Two groups of relatives travelling from London for a cremation at 2.30 .

Can anyone think of anywhere that the 5 of us could repair to after the service to sit, talk ,recover and drink coffee eat a sandwich ?

There are many cafes along Kings Heath high street, some may have outside seating but there’s also Highbury Park at one end if you need somewhere to sit. You could also walk down (or drive, but parking is more tricky) to Moseley Village where there are also many cafes but I’m not sure if any are open during lockdown.

Thank you nimbose .

I'm just SO grateful that we were able to visit the hospice . Others who lost people during the first lockdown weren't allowed to go in .

I’m sorry for your loss.

We had my grandmother’s funeral there, and went afterwards to Moseley Village. Lots of pubs/cafes etc along there that you could sit outside at, I’m sure some of them will be open. Are you driving?

SingingTunelessly · 17/11/2020 12:57

Pubs/cafes/restaurants are all takeaway only throughout the whole of England due to lockdown aren’t they? Peridito, I’d call the funeral director and ask what options there are for families at the moment. It must be a problem they’ve dealt with a lot. I’m so sorry for your loss. 💐. Losing a loved one is terrible during normal times and I can only imagine this wretched situation makes everything a thousand times worse.

HopeAndDriftWood · 17/11/2020 13:01

Moseley was pretty dead yesterday... not much open, although parking was rammed. Kings Heath has a few takeaways open but I’m not sure they’d be where you’d want to be while grieving...

It's a bit of a drive away but Cannon Hill park if lovely. Might need to take your own food and drink. I haven't been for ages so not sure what would be open.

Thank you all ,this is very helpful .

I was thinking Kings Heath park and a takeaway from Cartlands Independent cafe ,does anyone know it ? In particular whether it's much of a walk from a car park ?

all depends on weather I suppose .

I might ring the funeral directors but would they really be able to advise do you think ?

OP I’ve just remembered - the tea room in Cannon Hill park is currently open and has picnic benches outside, that could be a good option? The park is lovely to walk around too.

Sorry have never been to the cafe you’ve mentioned so can’t comment.

ElphabaFlies · 17/11/2020 14:54

Yes, it's open and there's a decent size car park at Kings Heath park 🙂

There are two car parks at Kings Heath, you’ll want the one off vicarage road to be nearer to Cartlands.

ChocBeforeCock · 17/11/2020 14:56

Kings Heath Park I mean!

KingsHeathen · 17/11/2020 22:43

Cartlands has been doing takeaway throughout lockdown, as far as I'm aware.

I am sorry for your loss Thanks
