Advent Window

We’ve been asked to decorate our premises’ window to take part in our village’s live advent trail. It has to be religious based not Father Christmas/Rudolph/etc. So far I’m thinking stars and angels, and have found some lights and stickers on Amazon.

Has anyone got any other ideas or good links? Nothing hugely expensive as like everyone, our business has suffered this year! We just want to join in and be involved in this lovely idea.

Shepherd theme - sheep would be really easy to do. You could combine this with the angel to recreate 'while shepherds watched their flocks ...'

Thank you @WitchesSpelleas! Good idea!

What about a tasteful scene relating Christmas to what your business does?

@TheYearOfSmallThings that is so cute! We’re a cafe so will have a think. Thank you.

Gold, incense and myrrh
Or a scene from a Christmas carol -the page following in king wenceslas's footsteps, holly and ivy, three ships sailing by, twinkle little star, little donkey

Feed the wise men on their travels!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 17/11/2020 18:03

Would gingerbread nativity biscuits be sacrilegious? I would totally buy a set!

Martha Stewart says it's ok!

Thank god it's not just us! Approached when my guard was down, I have agreed to take part in our village advent trail.

We are going for a silhouette of trees, a deer and stuff because some bastard already took the wise men

AdaColeman · 17/11/2020 18:22

Maybe a silhouette of Bethlehem village, with some cut out windows and doors lit up, a dome here and there, with your stars and angels above.

I'd be tempted to do the wise men bearing cakes, but that might be frowned upon! "Bearing cakes we've travelled afar" La la la la Lala la!

They are refused entry to the inn... could do a little door with cardboard showing your cafe behind it and Mary, Joseph and the donkey figurines being turned away by a lego man.

Honeypickle · 17/11/2020 20:28

Oh some really clever ideas here!! Thank you everyone!

Could you base it around an Advent hymn or Christmas carol?

  • In the Bleak Midwinter
  • Oh, Little Town of Bethlehem
  • Silent Night
  • I Saw Three Ships (Come Sailing In)
  • The Holly and the Ivy

We're doing a window trail in our village too. I'm thinking of the bethlehem sillouhette idea in our downstairs windows with angels flying around above in the upstairs windows.
