Feeling really down today. I miss my family.

I am clinically extremely vulnerable. I've not had human contact with anybody other than carers and medical professionals since mid february. Tonight I'm feeling really lonely and just fed up

No advice but I'm sorry. It's not healthy or normal to go without contact with loved ones for so long.

Well that didn't work 😕

Hugs to you OP ❤️

Are you able to facetime them or similar?

mbosnz · 16/11/2020 17:42

No wonder you're feeling so miserable and lonely. I think anybody would be in your shoes.

Big fat hugs and an abundance of sympathy.

Mixedupworld · 16/11/2020 17:59

See everyone on facetime/zoom most days. Just really want a hug off my mum. I hate this virus.

Virtual contact is one thing when it's a stop gap but it's not a good replacement.

Mixedupworld · 16/11/2020 21:24

Is anybody around for a chat please. Can't stop crying. Desperately lonely tonight

sheepdreams · 16/11/2020 21:27

So sorry to hear that you are feeling lonely. Not surprised this virus has had such a terrible impact. Is there anyone you can contact? I know it’s not the same as direct contact. Sending you virtual hug.

Flowerblue · 16/11/2020 21:29

Awww, poor you! We’re here. What do you want to chat about? My teen dd is turning her room upside down looking for her physics book for tomorrow. Our cat is on the radiator- where she is planning to spend the winter. We also have a gecko (and mealworms) Do you have a pet?

StillCounting123 · 16/11/2020 21:30

Whereabouts are you, OP? Do you have any pets or hobbies?

I am not in the same situation as you, but can see that you are not wrong in how you feel at all. Brew

Norugratsatall · 16/11/2020 21:34

Oh op! ☕️💐 can you meet your mum for a socially distanced walk? Sending you love x

Mixedupworld · 16/11/2020 21:35

I'm in Yorkshire. It's my dad's 60th birthday tomorrow. He was really poorly with covid in May and we thought we were going to lose him at one point. I just wish I could be with him tomorrow to celebrate his big day.

I don't have any pets. I would love a dog but it's not practical for me as I'm paraplegic and live on my own.

Do you live alone? Can you form a support bubble? It's nit normal to go without human contact for so long,

cornishcarly · 16/11/2020 21:37

I'm here. I'm so sorry you're in this position. I can't imagine how tough it must be. I don't think any of us are getting through this unscathed but the effects really have been plain cruel for way too many Thanks

I have just made flapjack. It's gone a bit soggy and I'm a bit disappointed. Teenage Ds has pronounced it "very juicy" and seems to be enjoying it. He will eat anything though.

Rae36 · 16/11/2020 21:42

I'm lying on the sofa under my heated blanket watching I'm a Celebrity.
What about you @mixedupworld? Watched any decent TV recently?

bumblenbean · 16/11/2020 21:48

I’m sorry OP that sounds bloody awful. This is entirely unnatural and feels so cruel.

Is it’s any consolation you are not alone in feeling this way, but I understand that doesn’t really help Sad

Would it be possible to meet your mum or your dad somewhere outside for a chat? Not ideal by any means but at least some face to face contact.

Happy birthday to your dad and big hugs to you x

ButterMeUpScotty · 16/11/2020 21:49

Aww you poor thing, that sounds so tough.Do you just want a regular chat about anything? Have you started watching The Crown yet? I haven’t but I’m excited to see itSmile

NoSquirrels · 16/11/2020 21:50

Flowers for you. Will it be possible for anyone to visit you soon if they can self-isolate for a few weeks before seeing you? It’s not fair at all and I’m not surprised you’re feeling sad. I too would like a hug from my mum Sad

dublingirl66 · 16/11/2020 21:52

How have you been today OP?
Did you manage to start any good box sets?
Things slowly will get easier xxxx

Mixedupworld · 16/11/2020 21:53

I desperately want to meet them but I'm terrified of going outside now. I think I've developed agoraphobia. I hope not but the thought of going outside and potentially getting this virus is terrifying. I'm asthmatic, diabetic and have no spleen. I'm very high risk of death if I got covid.

I have a carer twice a day and district nurse 2 or 3 times a week. So I do see people but not family.

NoSquirrels · 16/11/2020 22:26

Completely understand your anxiety - you’re so high-risk it must feel very scary. It’s probably something you’ll need to work on but right now, mid November in a country-wide lockdown is not the ideal time to do it!

Hopefully your family can work something out to visit you with low-risk? xx

SavageBeauty73 · 17/11/2020 08:06

I'm so sorry. This year is incredibly tough. Are your parents able to come visit you?
