Montessori Nursery

Looking for a bit of advice. I recently visited a Montessori Nursery in Dulwich and was shocked to find that staff were allowed their mobile phones whilst looking after the children. The nursery is very convenient for me and whilst I have checked their Ofsted rating and it is good, I am really worried about this issue with the mobile phones. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Is it possible they had just taken the children on a walk outside in the buggies and need their phone when they do that for emergencies? Otherwise no. You could ask them though.

No, in all honesty I think it was more a case of young girls organising their social lives. I did raise a concern with the owner after the viewing and she was actually quite rude to me for questioning it. I am more concerned from a protective point of view in that I always understood that the staff should not be able to take pictures of the children.

Unless it's a nursery mobile, they are breaking safe guarding policies. I use to manage a nursery and anyone with a mobile on them would get an instant warning it's unacceptable. If the owner/ manager was also rude regarding your questioning, see that as a red flag and avoid.

I worked somewhere where there was a nursery and I used to have to go to the office. Mobiles were not allowed ‘on the shop floor’. The staff would take photos of the children for their going home books but that was it.

The nursery in question was Little Fingers Montessori Nursery in Dulwich. The owner, Mrs Beresford was incredibly rude and flippant when I tried to question her over it. I am tempted to report my concerns but I am not really sure who I would even report it to

You would report to their regulator.
