Anyone know risk of ectopic with implant?

If you fall pregnant with the contraceptive implant in place what is the risk that this will be ectopic? Everywhere online says that it is higher risk but I can't see how much of a higher risk it is. Does anyone know please?

My GP has told me if I have ectopic symptoms to go to A&E but couldn't tell me how likely it was or speed up my next appointment. I am in a bit of a panic about this now

The risk of an ectopic pregnancy whilst on the contraceptive implant is only very slightly raised compared to a normal pregnancy. If you are having symptoms then you should definitely seek medical attention and not wait for your next appointment (whether it can be expedited or not). If you are not having symptoms then I really wouldn't worry about it as the risk is very low. If you are pregnant you also need to have the implant taken out (if you are continuing the pregnancy).

I want to continue the pregnancy. I am having a nightmare getting an appointment to have it removed. Will this affect the pregnancy?

It sounds like you have already spoken to your GP about this, so they are presumably aware that you are pregnant and still have the implant in place. What did they say about you getting an appointment to get the implant out?

They told me it has to be removed at a clinic. They don't put implants in or remove them at GPs. The clinic don't have any appointments for the next 4 weeks.
