Hi has anyone got any ideas of where I could look to move. I'd obviously love to go for a good mooch but what with covid that's quite tricky.

My requirements are
Good train line to Leeds, 45min ish
A community where I could make friends as I'll be on my own.
Flat, terraced house for up to £120k

Cracking little terrace with a nice garden in Morley, south of Leeds www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/68858796#/

It's a nice friendly community, easy train ride into the city

You'd struggle to buy a property under £120,000 in York. Those that are under this price tend to be retirement properties, very small or holiday lodges.

Oakworth - or with a bit of luck - Haworth. Both just outside Keighley with regular buses (or steam train from Haworth!) to town. Keighley is about 20 minutes from Leeds by train.

Unless you're really a minimalist, there's no need to buy a studio on that budget.

You can get a perfectly nice 2 bed house or flat in a nice area with good connections and amenities in many parts of Yorkshire for £120k, so there's no need to go much smaller.

I'm another one who would suggest looking east. I moved to East Yorks having lived literally all over (I'm forrin') and really love it. Most of the East Riding would be too far, but maybe look round Howden? Its handy for Leeds as well as Sheffield / York / trips down south, but you're not a million miles from the coast and some pleasant countryside. I don't know Howden well, but on my few visits it feels like a smaller version of the East Yorks town I live in, which is small & 'rooted' enough to be friendly and community-minded, but has enough people moving in from outside to keep insularity at bay. Its a lovely balance if you can find it.
