Really Good Properly Waterproof Coat (Adult)

I’ve got quite into walking during lockdowns, but don’t have a decent waterproof coat for the winter months. I mean one that can really keep you dry during a heavy deluge. I don’t mind spending more for a decent one that will last, so my budget is approx £200.

Thanks in advance

On a friend’s recommendation I bought a Seasalt Coverack coat, and it’s brilliant. Tested over a weekend of torrential rain and it’s most definitely waterproof

I have a North Face tri-climate jacket, the one with the fleece you can zip in. It's about your budget and has never let me down, as well as being wearable in most seasons due to the removable fleece.

Seasalt. I just bought my first one a couple of weeks ago and it's amazing.

I’ve just bought one from Schoeffel. It was £345. We walk a lot in all weathers and live in the countryside so well worth the money

Go to a country store and look at Ariat, Schoeffel etc.

Seasalt ones are good. Very functional.

I have a Boden one which just had a bit more to it than the similar Seasalt. It’s holding up well so far.

Thanks for these Smile will check stockists online and see where I can try them on.

I have a Didrickson. I’d never heard of it before I got it but they are recommended on here. It’s a Swedish brand originally made for fishermen and it is totally rain and wind proof and warm with lots of clever little touches.

weebarra · 15/11/2020 16:49

Didrikson here too. Was about your budget and I love it.

On a friend's recommendation I have just bought a Seasalt Janelle.
£150 - more than double what I have ever previously paid for any coat, but my friend has had hers six years and it is stil going strong. Lifetime waterproof guarantee.

I have now bought two coats from Lighthouse following MN recommendations earlier in the year.
Really good value and really waterproof..and definitely as good as anything I have had from Seasalt or more expensive brands . maybe the Outback coat? they have padded ones also

I was out in my Rathlin coat in the hoolie today and can confirm that it is most definitely wind and waterproof

I have a Regatta Romina, they are nice and long, so you don’t get wet knees and very cosy. This will be my 3rd winter with it and it’s still fully waterproof, even in torrential rain, which DH’s fancy ‘technical’ £200 coat most definitely wasn’t.
Get the next size up to fit a heavy fleece under it. It’s got a decent internal phone pocket too.

You can get them for under £50.
