How are you doing yours this year?

On line. May go to one or two shops if allowed..

lucysmam · 15/11/2020 09:37

Mostly online & delivered to a friend's where there's always someone in.

I've already bought a few bits from actual shops & have a small list for if we can go shopping but nothing major.

merlotormalbec · 15/11/2020 09:44

Online atm but I love going into actual shops but I'm basically done!

Mostly online but have been to a few shops when it was quieter midweek for stocking fillers.

wendz86 · 15/11/2020 09:46

Mostly online, bought a couple of bits instore. Hoping might be able to get a couple of stocking fillers in store in dec.

FrazzledFTM · 15/11/2020 09:55

I did a bit in shops before lockdown 2, but mainly online now. I love going Christmas shopping in the shops, but I fear that lockdown may be extended or that shops would just get too busy if they do reopen that I'm playing it safe this year. I might, as others have said, grab some stocking fillers if the shops reopen but nothing major.

I also think that there are going to be some big shipping problems this year as most people will be heading online to shop. If it's left to December I worry about things arriving on time due to the sheer volume of orders, so I have a few things I will be buying using click and collect.

TeenPlusTwenties · 15/11/2020 09:59

I did what I could in store before 2nd lockdown, but more online this year than previously. I've shopped early this year and am pretty much 'done'. Mainly though it is from the same stores as usual, e.g. I did a Boots online order rather than visit the big Boots in nearest large town.

elQuintoConyo · 15/11/2020 10:01

Both. I've been in and out of Flying Tiger for stocking bits clothes shops, bag shops, toyshops ... Only online purchases will be for those abroad and ds' PlayStation.

Bluewavescrashing · 15/11/2020 10:11

I think there could be some long delays on deliveries if postal orders overwhelm the system. Best not to leave it too late.

I popped in to M&S last week and it was a faff. Boiling hot, I had a mask on so my face was sweating, carrying coat. Everything seemed to have moved. It was quite quiet which was nice. I didn't browse, just nipped in and out. But as a teacher crammed in to a classroom with 27 little people all week it felt less risky than being at work.

In store when they reopen to support the high street

RedTawny · 15/11/2020 10:17

Food shop - I've a tesco order on 23rd and will pop into waitrose on 24th for anything tesco doesn't bring

Most of my other shopping is online but my daughters both want presents which online comes up as "style may vary" and I cant choose particular ones so I'll pop into a shop for those when I can

Gilead · 15/11/2020 10:26

Online. I’m immunosuppressed and am having an operation two days before Christmas so need to self isolate for two weeks beforehand!

supadupapupascupa · 15/11/2020 10:37

Online. Getting bits and bobs that keep in the run up weekly

quarentini · 15/11/2020 11:55

I'm done ( only had adults to buy for)
I bought a mixture from small businesses when they were open and the rest online.
Did it early to be ready .

FireUnderpants · 15/11/2020 13:07

A mixture. I have a list of everyone I need to buy for and a specific sub list of what I'm buying them. I concentrate on one person at a time and work through the list finding the best present at the best price.

Wondering round a shopping centre with a dozen people in mind just does not work for me.

Smyths click and collect was brilliant this week at the Enfield store.

Crunchymum · 15/11/2020 13:19

I got most of the stocking bits before lockdown #2 (never normally start in November but fuck knows how this is all going to pan out). I've also started grabbing a few food bits when out and aboout (not that I'm out and about much)

I'll hopefully be able to get a food slot for 23rd and will nip out for anything we need on 24th.

Presents will be online.

Due to size of both our families we only do Xmas gifts for parents (sounds mean but its a mutual agreement between us all -otherwise we'd be buying for 16 nieces and nephews plus 8 siblings and their partners... we do birthday gifts though as that is more spread out Grin)

Out kids all have birthdays either side of a Xmas - Nov and Jan - so we won't be going overboard with gifts.

It will be first Xmas without my Mum, so I'm going to make sure Dad has lots of nice bits and bobs - foodwise and silly gift wise (he'll be with my sister for the day).

AlwaysLatte · 15/11/2020 13:20

All online - but I tend to anyway.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 15/11/2020 14:30

All online as usual
I ordered everything early to allow for delivery issues and all done now
I'll shop with my son nearer the time for food I'm disabled and this works for me

MrsDThomas · 15/11/2020 17:41

Shops. Prefer it to online. Done a lot this week and i had a few days off.

milcal · 12/07/2021 19:16

As always...mostly online and some small bits from local shops.
