Why do I wake up too early on my days off yet sleep through the alarm when working?

It's so annoying. I've worked all week and was really tired last night, went to bed thinking great ill get a lie in, then woke at least an hour before my usual getting up time. Head bright and alert. Can't get back to sleep.

Soooo annoying!!!

Does anyone else do this?

Yep.... I always wake up early when my son has a lie in. And when he's up early I have to drag myself out of bed?! Why!!!!!!

purpleme12 · 15/11/2020 08:48

I sleep through my alarm

But worrying really

It's why I have to set loads

Every weekend, wide awake at 6am, yesterday I did manage to get back to sleep for 2 hours but then got up at 8am so not exactly a lie in 😁

Weekdays first alarm goes off at 6.15 and I usually wake up on the 3rd one at 6.45, on Friday I completely overslept and woke up at 8.15 which is 30 minutes after I should start work 🙄

It's crazy isn't it!!!

It's like my brain is playing tricks with me.

Exactly the same. Mom-Fri when my alarm goes off at 6.30am I feel shattered and wish I could sleep another few hours. Sat and Sun? Wide awake and fresh at 6am Hmm.

So annoyingly isn't it.

I came back to bed and am still in it.
Bloody hell.

Do your bedtimes fluctuate?

ssd · 15/11/2020 20:51

Not really

Maybe life is telling you to either stop working or stop taking days off...

ssd · 15/11/2020 21:33

Well unless life starts paying my bills it can piss off Grin

OP posts:
Tumbleweed101 · 15/11/2020 23:28

Because it's more motivating to wake up to a day off than to a day of work?

Tumbleweed101 · 15/11/2020 23:29

And yes, same thing happens to me...

midlifecrash · 15/11/2020 23:38

Because a day off is nice and you don't have to go to work? And can have a little nap later if you feel like it?

Eckhart · 16/11/2020 07:46

Can you work with the problem, rather than solving it? Early night before your days off, so that you get enough sleep despite waking early, and then your day off is loooooong - which you want, right?

So, waking up later on work days is better, because you want work days to be short.

ssd · 16/11/2020 11:43

But see, the night before my day off feels like a treat and I might stay up like 30-40 minutes later than usual, just because I can and it feels thrilling (sad git here)

Don't aways though

Funnily enough it's the first of my days off I wake super early, I now think its cos I've still got work on my mind so much, but it's the fact I ping awake when on my work days its a slog to get out of bed
