Do you still have a comforter?

Like a teddy or a comfort blanket?

Just wondering out of interest because I do Blush everyone in my family has had some sort of comfort item of varying weirdness ranging from coats to dusters (clean unused ones) and all have outgrown it except me.

I have a piece of material that was a blanket and I've since cut into pieces so that when one is past it I have spare, it's not the same one as when I was younger but it's the same sort of thing and same material. It lives under my pillow and gets washed frequently and I have no idea why I'm still so attached, I would genuinely take it if the house was on fire.

Anyone else? Or am I just a weird one? Grin

Yes I've got a dog (stuffed toy) that my aunt got me when I was 5, I'm now 29 and still sleep with it every night, I need to be cuddling it or touching it at least 😛

Ah pleased I'm not the only one! I don't know anyone else who still has, or that admits it anyway, so just wanted to see if there were others.

I did also suck my thumb until much later than I should admit and that went hand in hand with the blanket so I have to sleep with the blanket touching my face as a result 😂

Yep. Me too.

PoptartPoptart · 14/11/2020 23:55

Yes, I still have my blankie that I sleep with.
Bit embarrassing really but DH is very understanding!

YouBoggleMyMind · 14/11/2020 23:58

Yeah, I do too. I am very aware if we go away and it's not there! I don't sleep the same.

Yes! I have had three different types over the years. I was also a prolonged thumb sucker op.

One teddy that I had from age 1 now lives in my DS's room above his wardrobe, another teddy that my DH bought for me 15 years ago for our first Christmas sits on a chair in my room. Whenever I am sleeping alone, I cuddly my teddy at night as I don't like being alone. He bought it me when I was in university so I had something to cuddle when he wasn't there (LDR).

Oh yes wouldn’t be without my teddy lol! It’s almost now a bit of a bolster to make me comfy, if I’m ever away in a hotel I struggle!

BigGlasses · 15/11/2020 00:29

Yes Blush. Old pyjama bottoms that I rub the worn material between my fingers

All of my kids have a comforters too. I sort of hope they grow out of them but also know what comfort they bring and it’s relatively harmless, so what does it matter i suppose. I instantly de stress with mine.

I still have the little Teddy from my childhood but not attached to it, neither sleep with it.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 15/11/2020 01:13

I still have my teddy from when I was a child but when I was a teen it got too old and battered for me to cuddle so it just sits on my bedside draws.

I don't otherwise have a comfort item but I do pull my duvet right up under my chin and cuddle it and my spare pillow as I fall asleep. I don't suck my thumb, and I never have, but I do use my thumb to press on and massage the bit above my top lip as I fall asleep as well.

My husband got me a teddy on sale at primark early on in our relationship. A few years later i had my first severe depressive episode that had me almost completely stop functioning. Before the medication kicked in I spent many days sat on the couch crying and hugging that teddy. Since then it has been through a second severe depressive episode with me and now it calms my anxiety and helps me sleep. Husband still comments on how glad he is he bought me that cheap little teddy (literally cost a pound). I did plan on giving it to our baby when I found out I was pregnant, however my baby prefers his squeaky rattle teddies instead!
