If you had a choice between these two jobs which would you choose?

  1. Boring job, you've outgrown the work BUT you can take 13 weeks of holiday a year.

  2. Job that stretches and challenges you BUT you have the standard 7 weeks 3 days holiday a year.

The money is the same for both. With option 1 you can take even more holiday but you'll then earn less.

Depends on how you value your time off, do you make the most of it? any hobbies? childcare?

Is 7 weeks 3 days standard holiday? Because I'll take that over statutory minimum which is 20 days + public holidays. I only get 25+ph.

7 weeks and 3 days standard holiday!? I don’t know anyone who gets that as standard. I wish.

There is nothing worse than being in a job that bores you stupid.
So I would take the interesting & professionally stretching job as the time will whizz by (well you won't be clock watching) & 7 weeks + holiday is still good.
It's what I had in my previous role.

Unless you have some big travel plans for the next couple of years, definitely the second.

Oops my maths is dodgy. I mean the standard 25 days plus 8 days public holidays!

I'd spend the extra holiday seeing my family, DH is a teacher, he's too busy during term time. I have teenage DCs and it's nice to hang out with them too. Also I do have hobbies and interests I'd use the time for. I'm quite a homebody so I'm happy taking my extra holiday at home with my family around me.

Number 2 please

MimosaFields · 14/11/2020 23:21

I would take the interesting job

purpledagger · 14/11/2020 23:32

I'd stick with job 1.

Since having children, I've lost my career ambition and don't want a stressful job.
