Kia eNiro vs Hyundai Ioniq vs Nissan Leaf e+ Any advice?

I’ve ruled out the Hyundai Kona as being far too small and the egolf as having too short a range (plus it's small).

Now I’m left with 3 very different cars...

Hyundai Ioniq: For: good size boot, space and price. Against: 38kw battery and only 170 mile range.

Nissan Leaf 3+: For: 62kw battery and 226 mile range. Against: size? Reviews aren’t amazing.

Kia eNiro: For: looks and size, 239 miles and 64kw battery. Against: price, maybe not as big as Ioniq, even though it looks bigger.

Does anyone have experience of these cars?

I have driven all three as hire cars,

My favourite was the Nero as a prefer to sit slightly above in a driving position and the Infotainment system was very good

The leaf was fun to drive and nippy

Hyundai Ioniq, didn’t leave a lasting impression, was a bit boring

Thank you!

I worry that the Ioniq would be the boring choice (head and money vs heart and bank balance).

I really want the eNiro, but don’t know whether I can justify the cost (I can afford due to house sale, but should I spend it all or save some...?).

I don’t want to be changing cars for a good long while. The Kia has the best warranty.

I’ve watched a bunch of reviews on plug in hybrids (rather than fully electric) online recently. The Ioniq seems to have little headroom in the back so not ideal if you’re a tall family.

If you’d like more of a crossover/SUV, you could look at the new fully-electric MGs. They’ll probably be cheaper than a Kia.

I’ve been looking at videos and reviews all day, but I’m still not sure 😫

Nissan Leaf 100%!

Fantastic to drive, great space inside the car and huge boot.

Consider where and how you would have them serviced. The 170 mile range would put me off the Hyundai.

That’s what’s putting me off, but it’s more affordable 😅

How often do you drive further than 170miles? I’d imagine it probably doesn’t matter day-to-day but only when going away. Would this be up your only car?

Cakes4Teatime · 15/11/2020 20:56

Also looking at similar. All electric. What I really want is an suv as I like the higher driving position and so much easier to get in and out. But I love my current Nissan. The Kia has the best reviews and likely going for that. The answer I think is the Nissan electric suv but it’s a year away still.

I have a Niro hybrid and I love it, nice to drive, spacious and a decent size boot.

Dowser · 15/11/2020 22:40

My therapist has just bought a Niro and loves it
My dil has a leaf and it gets 80 miles
She loves the car but no good for long journeys.
