Starting childminding advice?

Does anyone use a childminder just for holidays/ inset days, I'm thinking primary aged pupils? I'm retraining as a bookeeper and thought childminding might be a good way of balancing out income over holidays etc. Live rurally so big garden, surrounded by fields so would be v. Outside based. No neighbours to annoy. There is a lack of childcare locally, parents cobble stuff together with a day a week forest school plus an activity day but it runs from 10-3/4 which is rubbish if working. It feels like a good idea just wondering what the downsides are?

Our village has a holiday club that is very popular with parents.

I wouldn’t send my child to a childminder if an out of school club as available because I think he would prefer to mix with lots more children than a childminder would offer. However if it was the only option then sure!

No after school club, sadly, it really limits my job choices. There are council run sports clubs but they are a half hour drive away and its a bit depressing being in fluorescent lit gym hall all day when its lovely weather

Just wanted a bit of advice.
My little girl had a temperature on Sunday so took her to the hospital Monday, they said it was a cold. Tuesday spiked a temperature again so went to doctors where they discovered a sore swollen throat so popped her on pennecilin.
I kept her off Wednesday but Thursday she was fine so asked the childminder if I could bring her in as I work for myself and don’t have any other childcare help. She said no for the rest of the week even though it’s just a cold and sore throat.
Is it right I still get charged for this even though it wasn’t my decision for her not to go in??
Thank you
