Does anyone have any experience of taking probiotics?

I’ve had gut issues for 22 years and over those years I have tried everything (meds, diet, low fodmap diet, hypnosis etc, etc) to no avail.
The last 3 years have been awful (constant gurgling guts, indigestion, nausea, burping, bloating and gas).
Last year I had a colonoscopy and gastroscope with biopsies which all came back clear.
Have been suffering a lot this year so this week I paid privately to see a gastroenterologist to get some advice, as this is really taking over my life now.
He confirmed that it’s IBS and recommenced probiotics. Now that’s one thing I haven’t tried as I am scared they will give me diarrhoea but feel that I should at least try them now.
I can’t tolerate diary so can’t try probiotic yogurt. I would need to take capsules/tablets.
Anyone tried them?

I take probiotic tablets daily. I had my spleen removed 20 years ago and therefore take penicillin daily. I have IBS and find the probiotics helpful. I wasn’t aware they gave you diarrhoea. My IBS is more constipation, I’ve never suffered with diarrhoea.

I would give them a try.

Thanks doodleygirl, I think my main concern over the diarrhoea is that it’s one of my biggest fears with this condition and I tend to look at reviews and see the 10,000 people who rave about a product then focus on the 1 who will say it gave them terrible diarrhoea!
