Would you be able to fit your personal belongings in a banker box a la Cummings?

I think I could probably manage it, but the role of wrapping paper that currently lies behind my filing cabinet would be sticking out.

What personal belongings do you have at work?

Mine:
Notebooks
Mugs (one used as a pen pot, but the pens would stay)
Decaf coffee
Coaster
Fake plant
Three tins of soup
Tin of tuna
Tin opener
Running shoes
Blanket/wrap thing
Running belt
Nail scissors
Tweezers
Pukka teabags (although they could probably stay)
Desktop Christmas tree (it's not up, but stays in the drawer year round)
Tinsel (see above)
Hot water bottle
Fingerless gloves
Hat

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can remember as I've been WFH since March.

OP posts:
RunningFromInsanity · 14/11/2020 00:03

Ketchup from the fridge
Emergency snack bar from drawer

I would probably take all the pens from my desk too.

My desk is so cluttered but apparently none of it’s mine!

VodselForDinner · 14/11/2020 00:11

I have at least 50 pairs of shoes in my office. Blush

Lots of other stuff too.

MajesticWhine · 14/11/2020 00:12

Blimey OP you make yourself at home don't you. You might need a suitcase.

Three mugs
Two pairs of shoes
Coffee and tea
Some files and books
Lens wipes

Nothing. We hot desk and so I don't have anything at work, we have to take everything with us.

SwedishEdith · 14/11/2020 00:15

Had to do this recently (not for a bad reason). 3 bags for life, full and very heavy.

PanamaPattie · 14/11/2020 00:16

Nothing. I will hot desk if I ever return as I'm currently WFH.

MadameBlobby · 14/11/2020 00:17

I had to clear mine in August, I’d already taken a few bits home for wfh in March

I basically had one of those boxes, I had a couple of mugs, couple of framed photos, packs of paracetamol, throat sweets, ibuprofen, few sachets of things like soup/coffee, tassimo capsules, a hairbrush, some shopping bags.

In the bathroom cabinet I had a box of tampons, toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, baby wipes, deodorant.

grassisjeweled · 14/11/2020 00:19

I have at least 5 pairs of shoes too, all black heels. Other than that just bits n bobs.

atomicnotsoblonde · 14/11/2020 00:22

Heels x1
Hairbrush
Charger
Reference documents that they can keep!

Living the NHS hot desking dream.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 14/11/2020 00:25

Mug x 2
Tea caddy
Glass
Tin with pens, pencils, paperclips etc in (used to hold a mug)
Folder with my contract, certificates etc
Union law books
Pot of ink
Cup a soup
Pot Noodle

Yeah would probably manage all that in a box. We only have a locker though and hot desk, and moved offices last year, so my belongings are quite modest at work

Chickenwing · 14/11/2020 00:27

Been working from home since March and I get stressed when I think about what may be (growing) in my locker...

It would fill my car boot I suspect, if I chose to take it all with me. I am a teacher and many of the toys and resources in my classroom were either bought by me or outgrown by my children. In terms of personal stuff, I keep a coat there and usually have a cardigan or two but nothing else except what is in my bag.

toothfairycat · 14/11/2020 00:35

Pair of shoes
Washbag
Loupes
Mug and tea bags
Saddle seat (special stool dentists sit on)
That’s it I think.

Sorka · 14/11/2020 00:46

I haven’t been to the office since March so I feel a bit like this is the pandemic version of the Generation Game and I can keep what I can name. I remember:

  • A shawl
  • Two mugs
  • Some notebooks with work notes that I’d bin (and will bin when I go back)
  • Coffee. Maybe decaf. Maybe not. Maybe both. Probably stale. How long does coffee last?
  • Tea.
  • A plastic box containing everything that I’m supposed to take from my locker to my hot desk every day. Work can keep that.
  • Laptop charger. Work can keep that.
  • A big stapler (probably keep) and loads of stationery (leave).
  • I can’t find any of the smart black shoes I owned pre-lockdown so maybe shoes.
  • I also can’t find any umbrellas and had to buy a new one. So maybe umbrellas, though I may have lost them one by one by leaving them places.
  • I hope not snacks. They would have formed a new life form by now.

I think what I can remember and want to keep would fit in a box. I could always wear my shawl.

YesThisIsMe · 14/11/2020 00:58

About five pairs of high heels in various colours.
There was also a load of packets of noodles/porridge/herbal teas/lemsip/ibuprofen etc but I brought them all home in March. I hot desk so it all has to fit in a 1ft x 2ft x 2ft locker and that includes some equipment which belongs to work.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 14/11/2020 01:06

There's a (clean) bowl, spoon, fork and knife, a couple of pictures of dd in a frame and a pile of paperwork that's useful but not essential in a locker. My kettle and coffee are on top of the locker.
I only want the pictures but they are only prints of a digital copy.

Fuck me! How many pairs do you have in your actual home????
onetwothreeadventure · 14/11/2020 01:18

Nothing! I haven’t been into my office for over three years but we always did hotdesking before that so I never had a permanent seat,

FlouncerInDenial · 14/11/2020 01:22

Snacks
More snacks
Emergency snacks
Snacks to eat if I'm desperate (to be fair, some of these are over 5 years old)
Several coats or clothes to wear if I have to unexpectedly be outside
2 mugs
A very small collection of thank you cards. Some going back a very long time

nosswith · 14/11/2020 08:16

I have been working from home since March. If I had to go back to collect my things at work, there's a mug, a mousemat, a personalised phone holder and a couple of books to retrieve.

Unescorted · 14/11/2020 08:25

Another hot desker who has been wfh since March ...
I can't remember exactly, but I know it fits into a plastic box.
I think there might be:

  • a scaled ruler
-a bag of tat from one of the trade conferences -tea bags -pair of scissors
  • stapler
-hole punch
  • an orange... if this is the case then they can keep the box and its contents.
MyPersona · 14/11/2020 08:32

I had my belongings boxed up and couriered to me in early may after being made redundant. I had a mug and a cup and saucer, aero press, coffee, teas, a plate, a bowl, knife, fork, spoon, books and notebooks, pens, a big soft cashmere cardigan, a pair of black heels, an umbrella, hand sanitizer and a tub of alcohol wipes, eye spray and painkillers, chargers.

wellthatsunusual · 14/11/2020 08:34

The only personal thing in my office is a pair of shoes under the desk.

wellthatsunusual · 14/11/2020 08:34

Oh, and two mugs in the kitchen.
