Ordered a takeaway tonight, all very nice, but instead of the mushroom bhaji I ordered they have given us this. It's some kind of a sweet thing, like crunchy sugar. Definitely no mushrooms. Thing is, DS loves it and wants it again next time, and I can't work out what it is. They don't even have a dessert section on their website! (It is very nice.)

Yes! Knew it was vermicelli pudding. Gujaratis have it a lot too. It’s made with sugar and ghee and nuts. Some versions with milk.
Basically a kilo of sugar in it!

@Zoolally

Looks like something called Feniya. Also spelt pheni. It’s a type of vermicelli which is softened in ghee and sugar, usually with saffron and pistachios. My Punjabi Nan makes it every year for Diwali and as it’s Diwali tomorrow, that’s my best guess
Please tell me you don’t call her Punjabi Nan Grin

It is seviya. Sweet vermicelli they have fried in oil and sugar. You can cook it in milk too with cardamom and pistachio.
