Which electronic device will do this?

I am not big on tech, and I want to buy something like this to help DC1 (10) settle to sleep:
-a bedside piece of audio electronic item which will play downloaded audio or music
-programmable length of play at easy push of button, so it will automatically turn off after say 45 mins.
-no need for headphones; little speaker/s
-easily operated by a child in the dark, for instance to change story or increase length of play
I feel like I am missing some really obvious gadget.

My dd used to use an ipod on a docking station to play music

Alexa will do this if he's able to tell her?
Download your music and you can tell her to play whatever for however long.

What about something like this? You could link it to your own phone to play via bluetooth? He'd be able to skip tracks on the radio. Not sure about the timer though.

Also, she will read your kindle books to you as well.

Alexa

Lenovo smart alarm does this, quite easy to operate too.

A Toni box

Echo Dot? Books on Audible, whole host of music etc. She'll turn herself off if you set her. We have the kids dots plugged into smart plugs so we can over ride and turn them off

Alexa- either he can control or you. You can also control bedroom devices from others in different parts of the house. Mine use amazon story time most nights

Thanks, everyone. I think I am going to have to get to grips with Alexa (and trust DC not to ask it to say "bum" instead of snuggling down with an audiobook...).
