My temperature is constantly low on the guns. I bought a home thermometer and it has said 33 degrees Confused I’ve taken it a few times and I never come out above 35!

I’ve just had a google, with that temp you would have confusion, sleepiness, shivering and all sorts of nasty things going on. Your thermometer is def not right.

tazzy73 · 13/11/2020 17:58

I'd definitely think there was something wrong with your thermometer to be honest. Have you tried it on someone else.

Is it the gun you point at your forehead or the one that goes in your ear?

CommunistLegoBloc · 13/11/2020 18:00

Those forehead guns seem a bit useless to me - my temperature has barely been above corpse level.

But if your home one is saying 33 and it's not a forehead gun then there's something wrong with it or you'd be basically dead.

LolaLollypop · 13/11/2020 18:02

My temperature always seems to be between 35-36. The same with DH and the kids too. Im not too sure if it is broken as last winter it was reading DD’s fever as 40deg and when we went into hospital they read the same.

Dontstepinthecowpat · 13/11/2020 18:03

The forehead guns are random number generators. You have to take a core temperature to provide an accurate reading.

moonagedaydreamer · 13/11/2020 20:59

Low temperature is a marker for an underactive thyroid.

Thistles24 · 13/11/2020 21:06

DH very rarely hits 36, and DS1 seems to be similar. DS2 and I sit around 37.2, and if we do get fevers they’re always over 40. I rang 111 when mine was 41.9, they laughed and said there’d be no way I’d be able to hold a conversation if that was right! You can only imagine the panic when I turned up and it was correct! We just seem to run warm.

wfrances · 13/11/2020 21:12

We have a forehead gun , mines usually 36.4
It recently read the same at the gps (who used a ear one. )
So I guess it's accurate enough.

ChristmasinJune · 13/11/2020 21:21

My forehead gun tells me that my temperature ranges between 39.2 and 42.6..... either I'm very sick or my thermometer is broken.

I'd suggest that you too might need a new one, there's a lot of rubbish thermometers in the market at the moment!!

Timeforsinging81 · 13/11/2020 21:29

I can never get a reading on my forehead thermometer, it just says 'low' yet it's fairly accurate for everyone else in the family. I've come to the conclusion that it's not reading me properly due to my very pale and shiny skin tone Grin

rockofages · 13/11/2020 21:34

I consistently have the lowest temp at work. Definitely nothing wrong with the thermometer as everyone else has a normal reading but mine is 33 or 34. I had blood tests for an under active thyroid but they came back negative. As a start I suggest you get this done too. Not sure what else I can do about it though. Let me know if you find anything else out OP.

HopeAndDriftWood · 13/11/2020 21:36

We had this earlier in the year. Always 33/34, for me and DH. Amazon replaced it eventually... now we’re pretty much 35/36.

At 33, you’d be having symptoms of low temperatures and you’d be getting pretty unwell. But rubbish thermometers do tend to record lower, in my experience.

HopeAndDriftWood · 13/11/2020 21:38

Although the doctor did say that some people have lower temperatures in their forehead, so we take mine from my arm too. That’s always more accurate for me, but not on the original cheaper thermometer, that one just didn’t work.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 13/11/2020 21:42

I don't think the remote ones are particularly accurate. I'm generally around 37.3 using an in-ear one and I was a bit worried about going into places that take your temperature on entry because I'm near the top end of normal, but the forehead guns and tablet based thermometers generally register me at 36.5 so it's been fine. I think it helps that I'm coming in from outside temperatures so my skin may be chilled a bit.

YorkshireParentalPerson · 13/11/2020 21:53

My temperature it's pretty reliably 35.6 and had been since I was a child apparently. I only know this because work were always going on about how low my temperature was and I was telling my mum and she said let me guess 35.6?

If I get up to 37 I've got a fever!

My dh seems to run hot and it's always really warm, I am always frozen and wrapped up to try and keep warm.

LockdownEyebrows · 13/11/2020 21:54

I am generally very cold, fwiw. Was just hoping I was a zombie or perhaps a vampire Halloween Grin
