Anyone know anything about coffee machines?!

Sorry perhaps slightly dull topic. I want to get my DH a coffee machine for Christmas. He only drinks Americano black coffee so I would like something that grinds beans and makes an Americano without too much fuss. I don’t want one that only makes espresso and then you have to add hot water.
However to make it more useful generally I would like it to have the option of espresso and to also have a milk frothier/steamer as everyone else in our family drinks milky coffees. He won’t mind me doing this, even though he won’t use the milk but himself he will be glad it can be put to more use.
Any recommendations? I have tried google and amazon but am very confused as there seem to be about 1473 different coffee machines available and I can’t easily tell how they all differ! Thanks

It doesn't grind the beans but does everything else you've asked for. I buy espresso ground beans from local roasteries.
It's easy to make an Americano - press the button for espresso (single or double) then press the button for extra water.
You can also make cappuccino, latte etc by putting milk in the milk bit. I like that the milk bit can be taken off and stored in the fridge door if you don't use all the milk immediately.

I've had it about a year and no complaints at all. I use it daily.

I have this. It's a great coffee Machine and doesn't take up too much room. I have a separate coffee grinder as I didn't want a bean to cup. You can make an espresso and hold the button down to keep the water flowing if you want extra water.

Thanks for those I have had a little look. I suppose I’m not that fussed about the bean grinder thing, we already buy ground coffee as he currently uses a percolator thingy with the plunge handle (no idea if that’s what it’s called, I need to brush up on my barista lingo). I guess I thought it would add a bit extra and maybe improve the freshness if he can use fresh beans but maybe it’s not that important?
I’m not sure about the milk container thing like in the first one, I think maybe just a frothier so I can do the milk in a jug? Otherwise I’m worried that if it actually dispenses milk then it will be a PITA to keep clean. Maybe one like the second one is more what we need? Or is that a lot of faff for a latte?

I don't find it a faff I use it every single day.

We previously had a similar Delonghi espresso machine which died after several years. We got a burr grinder at the time which is still going but is struggling so may be on its way out. I mostly drink decaf and get a subscription from Yallah coffee of ground coffee so it’s usually pretty fresh. Before lockdown I would buy it in a local coffee shop who would grind it for me.

I drink mine black anyway but have faffed about with the milk wand on the old machine. From memory it wasn’t especially onerous to clean.

I love my Delonghi La Specialista. It's quite big, but its bloody brilliant and easily does all the things you want.

Delonghi seem like a good brand to go for!

I have a Delonghi Autentica Cappuccino, it has a milk unit as well, and you use beans. It's really good

I have a Gaggia Classic, it is totally manual and has a steamer wand for milk. I buy ground coffee. Its very easy to use, if you want an Americano you just let the water keep running into your cup. It doesn't stop until you switch it off. If you buy coffee from a roaster, it's pretty fresh and you will taste the difference between that and coffee from the supermarket.

We are Moka Pot people. FWIW my brother has an Aeropress and a pod style coffee machine. If he's making coffee for me, someone who likes black coffee, he will always use the Aeropress which surprised me at first. I asked him about it and he uses the pod coffee machine if he's in a rush or if the person he's serving coffee to drinks coffee with milk or is less discerning. I guess I'm just wondering why you want a machine. Some people love them. But other people don't rate the quality of the coffee.

Sage is the one I've been lusting after for a bean to cup experience. It's nice and shiny too !
