What's the highest quality chocolate you can get for your money?

I want something relatively accessible, but great quality. Not full of vegetable oil. I'm thinking maybe Tony's Chocoloney? No cadbury's, galaxy etc.

I wish Aldi would launch a wrapped chocolate selection made of Moser Roth or the other decent chocolate they use in the chunky £1.50 bars.

I've spotted one in the past but it looked cheap and nasty and the online reviews were bad.

I might treat myself to a box of Moser Roth chocs instead 😊

Ooh @hilariousnamehere I just checked out your website. Congratulations, it looks amazing! Great flavour selection!

Mmmm- rose and violet creams 😋

I like the Beech’s ones- made in Preston.

Since you are trying to avoid vegetable oil: Valrhona, Lindt & Sprüngli, Scharffen Berger, Callebaut, and Guittard (my favorite)

FineBoneChina · 13/11/2020 04:16

Co-Op chocolate is really nice. Or it was the last time I had it.

KitKatastrophe · 13/11/2020 04:33

Montezuma are excellent.

I also like aldi chocolate. I haven't tried Tony's yet but have some bars on my Christmas list

Mominatrix · 13/11/2020 06:45

My favourite is L'Artisan du Chocolat for truffles and interesting flavours.
More widely available, I also love Valrhona.

StillStriving · 13/11/2020 06:52

Interesting, I bought a bar of Tony's Chocolonely for my dad and he said it was horrible... I took that as gospel and never bought it again.

I bought Hotel Chocolat for everyone's Christmas last year and was so disappointed, it was almost inedible. I kept a box for myself and threw most of it in the bin which is most unlike me!

This year I'm going with Grace Chocolates. I've done some unofficial testing and so far so good.

NibbleQueen · 13/11/2020 07:37

Second vote for cocoa runners. I have the monthly subscription, I love it.

Tony's is tasty but it's not high quality.

Oly4 · 13/11/2020 08:29

I forgot about Leonidas.. delicious

Enko · 13/11/2020 08:31

Neuhaus chocolate imo the best of the best

tigerbear · 13/11/2020 08:47

@Oly4 my late grandma was from Belgium and every time she went to visit family, she’d return with about 20 golden boxes of the white chocolates with ganache and hazelnuts 🤪

Enko · 13/11/2020 08:47

Forgot to add neuhaus is palm oil free and I've yet to find a chocolate that tastes better. ( and this thread just had me realise they do advent calenders so I may need one)

movingonup20 · 13/11/2020 08:49

Value vs quality has to be Aldi, beats the brands hands down. I buy the 70% dark

hilariousnamehere · 13/11/2020 08:50

@tigerbear thank you 🥰

haba · 13/11/2020 09:06

People mentioning Lindt- Lindor definitely have palm oil in them Sad

LaurieFairyCake · 13/11/2020 09:11

I HATE Aldi chocolate - it's disgusting - no idea where the love comes from

I love henrileroux.com (3 chocolate shops in Paris - they deliver here Smile)

And Fortnums here - really nice bars for £5.95

Namechangedforthisoct2 · 13/11/2020 09:16

Booja booja are amazing - and kind!
Vegan, organic, and full of amazing yumminess!!

BrimFullOfAsher · 13/11/2020 09:36

Really want to get some Leonidas because they look amazing, but I begrudge paying £8 for standard delivery

storminabuttercup · 13/11/2020 09:38

Godiva always go down well here. From the actual shop not the ones they sell in supermarkets

BrimFullOfAsher · 13/11/2020 09:46

@hilariousnamehere just ordered some bars as stocking fillers.

Can't wait to get feedback

hilariousnamehere · 13/11/2020 10:22

@BrimFullOfAsher thank you! hope you love them Grin

DottyWott · 13/11/2020 10:27

Moser Roth has recently changed. The blue milk chocolate bars, where you get 5 mini bars in a cardboard sleeve, used to be lovely, the wrapper has changed colour slightly and the taste isn’t as nice. Such a shame!
