Small hallway storage ideas, please!

I've lived here 17 years, and still can't work out how to keep the downstairs hall tidy or organised. Now that we're here 24/7, I'm losing the will to live looking at it. Would any of you share your hall solutions? Eg links or photos would be amazing.

It's a small entrance hall, around 3.5m x slightly wider than the width of a staircase, so we're limited to what we can have.
I need somewhere to put shoes. We've had a shoe cupboard, but it didn't hold many pairs, and it also slammed closed, so fingers were at great risk each time. We’ve tried an ottoman type of box, but it became awkward to use since the lid/surface became a dumping ground for other stuff. My son is also now a man size 9.5 so his shoes are huge.

So we need something to store/hide some shoes, maybe 8 pairs? Possibly somewhere for boots now that winter is on the way, and bonus points for a nerf gun solution too. We have coat hooks on the wall, but could work around that.

Thanks so much 🥰

I used some ikea wall units as base units as they weren't deep but we all have small feet so not a problem. Would you have space for one of their cube storage units which are deep and you could assign a box in each cube to each person /nerf stuff/winter woollies?

We have similar to the link above but longer, they're about a metre I think. Boots sit on the floor underneath.

Would the wall mounted racks hold trainers? Thinking of DD room.

I second the ikea cube storage and cloth boxes (Argos also do something similar) for each person or pair of footwear.

The top may get used as a dumping ground but it won't affect the use of the individual storage boxes.

Something like this or the second option....probably easily made if you're handy and if you want the shelves certain sizes to accommodate larger shoes/boots.

Can obviously have colours other than pink, lol.

Thanks for those ideas - I like the wall rack a lot. At first I thought they might not look neat enough, but hey, it's currently a hell hole, so anything would be better.

We had the ikea boxes a while back, but the unit really felt just too deep for the room 😖
