Anyone got lots of Christmas events planned for December? What type of things will you be doing?

I thought I might have a quiet December indoors...

AlexaShutUp · 11/11/2020 22:48

Doesn't make sense to plan much yet, surely? We might still be in lockdown.

Viv0321 · 11/11/2020 22:52

There are still things going on but with a guarantee of refund if covid puts a stop to it.

Fun British picnics at the park.
We will stand in wellies, beneath a battleship grey sky, eating cheese sandwiches and monster munch saying "gosh isn't this fun? The weather forecast said it would rain heavily and it's only drizzling! Wow, aren't we lucky? Isn't this FUN??!" Until the drizzle turns to heavy rain, at which point we will go to drink thermos tea in the car.

Fa la la la laa, la la la laaaa.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 11/11/2020 22:54

Aren't most Christmaa events cancelled? I'd like to go to a Carol service, a Christmas Market and a pantomime but all of those are cancelled in my local area. If it's allowed I will go to Mass on Christmas eve, but I will really miss all the beautiful music and singing which definitely won't be allowed. I'd also like to go to the work Christmas do but that also won't be happening, so no I don't really have any Christmas events planned, let alone lots of them.

EggscellentEggplant · 11/11/2020 22:54

I thought I'd have a change and stay at home

SquishySquirmy · 11/11/2020 22:57

Sorry didn't want to be negative. That's what we did last weekend actually and it wasnt too bad.
I actually (genuinely not being sarcastic) love car picnics when its raining. Eating crisps and drinking tea all cosy while the rain beats down on the windows, maybe listening to Christmas music to make it festive.... lovely!

But we are not really planning the usual Christmas stuff this year. Might go and see Santa at the garden centre or similar if that's still on, and we will "do" stuff but nothing that involves travelling far or crowds. Baking, crafts, outdoor walks and mulling things.

Smarshian · 11/11/2020 22:59

We have a Christmas wonderland event at the zoo, and a theatre show booked, booking breakfast with Santa tomorrow.
There are lots of things going ahead in our area with reduced capacity etc.

SushiGo · 11/11/2020 23:02

We have theatre tickets (that I assume will be cancelled but haven't been yet)

Nt trust type garden light show

Maybe another light show, if I decide to book it.

That's it.

blue25 · 11/11/2020 23:05

Like what? No we’re having a quiet December at home or walkIng on the beach. I really don’t think going to ‘events’ is a very good idea at the moment even if they’re going ahead!

ColdNovemberNights · 11/11/2020 23:06

Well no, because , hay, theres a pandemic out there!

TokyoSushi · 11/11/2020 23:07

Nope, not one and my December is usually absolutely packed. Last December I went out for 7 Christmas meals amongst other things. This year my calendar is clear!

Viv0321 · 11/11/2020 23:09

Blue- like the posters above have said. Light trials, zoos, theme parks, drive through things etc Smile things with the DC.

No, nothing. Quiet Christmas for us, which is fine. I've got the same Christmas holiday days as DS. We'll be crafting, playing with new toys, meeting up with friends outside, walking the dog on the beach.

dazzlinghaze · 11/11/2020 23:14

We're going to see Elf at a drive in movie event but apart from that there doesn't seem to be much else on! I'm actually really looking forward to a more low key, relaxed Christmas Day but will really miss all the usual festivities in the run up to the day.

BrieAndChilli · 11/11/2020 23:15

We are going to horrible histories Christmas car panto. Like a drive in cinema but it a live theatre show

slothtrot · 11/11/2020 23:17

No. Our Christmas meal at a restaurant has been cancelled, we aren't allowed to visit the care home to see our own local relative so we are spending Xmas day at home on own our and our relative will be alone on Xmas day.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 11/11/2020 23:17

Possibly a walk around the area spotting Xmas lights and, if it's open, a trip to a local garden centre. Otherwise we have no plans.

Ideasplease322 · 11/11/2020 23:22

Or one event planned.

Christmas play - cancelled
Big annual family party - cancelled
Annual christmas night out out with all the girls from school - cancelled
Work Christmas party - cancelled
My Christmas Eve party - cancelled

December is usually hectic and I am barely home. A bit worried I will be lonely😢

Viv0321 · 11/11/2020 23:22

All the theme parks will be open! Anyone going? Some Santa trains too

OP posts:
Ideasplease322 · 11/11/2020 23:22

Not one event that should have read

Loveatortie · 11/11/2020 23:22

Putting up my Christmas tree and lights, wrapping present for dh and dc. Apart from that sweet fa this year. Have bought a frozen turkey for th first time. Will enjoy Christmas best i can. Will miss my family but we can engage through the internet. Thinking about it,engaging with my family and dh family on zoom calls may take up most part off the dayHmm might lose my phone for a few hours. Love them but a whole day again to chill out in my pj's sounds bliss😀
