Period subscription box

Hey, I want to get my DD (11) a period subscription box as she’s just started. I can’t seem to find one aimed at young people, other than Betty box and I can’t seem to work out how to do it on their website. Any recommendations from you lovely people?

I just googled to see what a period subscription box is...

Do you get one yourself? I just get a few products with my weekly shop or when I pop into Boots.

Oh really? I have already got her pads and things. I get a beauty one and she seems to like it, and I thought it would be nice for her to get something special in the post. I’ll have a re think though if it’s not a good idea Smile

My same age daughter would absolutely cringe if I got her a period box subscription every month! There are lots of far nicer subscription boxes aimed at that age out there!!

I can't imagine anything worse than getting a special parcel through the post and discovering it's a period box 😂

Get a chocolate/art/stationery one instead!

porridgeface · 11/11/2020 23:03

I used to get pink parcel which had a beauty products and chocolate too

I’ve just been eyeing up the variety here if you want ideas

But i agree with pp that, unless you’ve discussed it and she has says she likes the idea, she’ll probably find a period one a bit cringe. Maybe just a chocolate one that coincides with the time of the month without mentioning why?

TheTempest · 11/11/2020 23:20

I was thinking one with other bits in it as well, but I take your points! I’ll have a look at what other ones there are and get her one that isn’t period related 😁

When I first started I would have been mortified for attention to have been drawn attention to like that. But perhaps you could frame it as a congratulations gift (because she's now a young woman etc) and not make it so period oriented.

I think most of the fun of subscription boxes is the surprise element. It's like a surprise present to yourself. Hence they're nice for adults to buy for themselves. If you put together a small gift for her, she still gets that surprise element and at less cost.

*mortified for attention to have been drawn to my periods like that

RaininSummer · 11/11/2020 23:38

I would have found that a terriblly embarrassing parcel when young.

Oh god no, op.

And not very environmentally friendly either, and unnecessary...

Get her some chocolates, film and some bath bits around the time of month, dont make a big song and dance about it.

One of the nicest thing my parents did for me, was my dad brought me some socks in with the usual shopping one day... because I seemed low.

It was his way of giving me a hug because I was being a hormonal teenager.

Little things, op.
