So DH and I are relocating to his home country next year. We have already shipped 90% of our belongings but have a few big ‘life admin’ jobs to take care of before leaving the UK so we decided to move from our house in London back to my small hometown to a nice little flat. The whole building was recently bought and every flat (8 of them) is being renovated to the exact same standard/style. The flat is nice and everything was brand new so we were happy with this decision. Now we have just found out that the building contractors are working... upwards! So they started on the ground floor and then found tenants... then went to work on the first floor and repeat. Our poor neighbours below had 4 months of noise whilst our floor was being done and now we’ll have 4 months of noise whilst upstairs is done. They currently sound like they’re about to crash through the ceiling which is... great! 🙃
I just really can’t believe they’ve chosen this on purpose! The building was completely empty and the flats are the exact same for the rental market so no reason (except starting with the easiest) to work upwards.
We really wouldn’t have taken the flat if we had known as we work from home (not a Covid thing, DH has WFH for years) and we’ll only be here about 6 months (agency knew this) so 4 out of 6 months here will be living with this. Fun!
