If Biden doesn't do great things in the next four years, could Trump return?

Just that really.

Would Donald be allowed another crack at it?

Well who wouldn't want an insane, vicious, semi-literate coke-head back in the WH?

Yes he could put himself back out for election. You are allowed to be president for two terms total.

waltzingparrot · 10/11/2020 13:45

Hmmm, governments around the world might need to be careful with their words then because I bet he's got a memory like an elephant.

Yes technically he could but as a one-time election loser the Republican Party might want someone less divisive. There is no way to predict really as it depends how the next few years go.

Not sure if everyone else in the Republican Party will be willing to sit out again.

blueangel19 · 10/11/2020 14:18

Maybe he will try to go for it. Tbh, Biden did not win in a landslide and with Trump they should have but 71 million vote for him. This is something the party will need to take into account on how they play it from the very beginning. For what I have read there are divisions going on within the party already. The most progressives may have been the reason they did not win. ( Defund the police, BLM, Antifa) Plus, Kamala is apparently not so likeable so far in the US.

The Republicans will choose a candidate depending on how all of this evolved. I do not see they choosing DT but who knows at this stage.

A president can serve no more than two terms but they do not have to be consecutive. However, it'll never happen. Trump's senility and MH issues will be much more obvious in 4 years time. Not to mention that he very well could be in prison anyway for any number of things such as tax evasion or fraud when he is no longer protected by being President.

Somehow Trump 2016 was badged as a 'landslide', despite losing the popular vote and winning States by tiny margins, but Biden 2020 is being badged as 'not a landslide' despite winning the popular vote and winning States by slightly less tiny margins!

midsomermurderess · 10/11/2020 14:36

No. But Trumpism has not gone away. Ie hard right-wing conservative and national populism, underpinned by white supremacy, a hefty side-order of corruption and a desperate attempt by any means to impose a minority government across all Americans via voter suppression and gerrymandering and stacking the Supreme Court. That is the real and enduring threat.

Could depend if criminal charges are brought on him, and what result they bring. I know at least one state is already looking into his account with regards to fraud.
