Anyone had an eye test and shielding?

I have posted another thread but didn’t mention about shielding.

Has anyone had an eye test and shielding or are you going in the future?

I won't be having an eye test till next year, I imagine.

I went with DMum for a test at the beginning of September - she's a shielder. Local independent optician. Everything was clean, masks, PPE etc. but they were letting people sit in the waiting room without any distancing which wasn't great.

We went to a different local independent optician last week for her low vision assessment. They were much more cautious - no waiting inside, temp checks on the way in as well as all the usual cleaning, PPE etc. It felt very safe.

I wouldn't go for a routine eye test at the moment. We only went because DMum was losing her sight.

Yes, I'd only go in an emergency tbh, and use an independent. I hope your DMum is doing all right, @Lang. It must be so worrying.

I stopped wearing contact lenses completely in March, to be on the safe side.

I honestly can’t believe it. Tried on glasses and the women put them straight back on to the shelf!! I’m disgusted!!

She repeatedly reassured us that they are put in to a box and sanitised!
