Working from home on days there's not much to do?

Sometimes my job is extremely busy. Other times it's very quiet.

When it's quiet and you're WFH do you sit at your desk and wait for emails or calls to come in or do you use that time to do other things at home and step away from your desk?

I've been doing the former but considering getting up and doing some housework for half an hour but feel really guilty about it even though I've worked a lot of overtime lately and it's quiet this week!

100% use the quiet time to do something else - even if that something else is a cuppa, a chocolate bar and Netflix! Haha. Maybe set up your emails so that they ‘ping’ when they come through, so you’re not going to worry about missing anything?!

My job is similar. Mondays I’m generally really busy and stressed but some other days I’m just sitting twiddling my thumbs feeling guilty. I’ve decided though to just try and make the most of it so today I’ve done a load of laundry and a bit of baking. I should have finished work at 3 today but ended up logging back on at 4 after the school run and working until 5.15 so it’s swings and roundabouts and I’m feeling less guilty now.

I'm prone to guilt if I don't work my hours even if I work overtime so I've started informally logging my actual hours worked so I don't feel so bad doing less when I'm less busy.

I was busy today, but I still found time to do some laundry, get dinner ready, and catch up on some home admin.

I'm using my own phone, gas, electric, tea and coffee. I claim this back by being paid for the ten minutes I spend putting dinner in the slow cooker Wink

I need to stay by my home desk to answer the phone, but I do pop away to get washing in for instance.
I have also restarted crochet so I usually have that by my side and can pick that up while still keeping an eye out for emails and/or answer the phone.
