Really good puzzle books

Can anyone recommend a good brain-taxing puzzle book?

It's for my DM for her birthday. She's 82 with a razor sharp mind. She enjoyed the GCHQ one a few years back. And whizzed through (but enjoyed) The Times ones and a Ordnance Survey one last year.

Not sudoku.

Thanks!

Logic puzzles are really good for thinkers . Only ' puzzler' books do them . Usually from Tesco never found them elsewhere .

I like Alex Bellos' books.

Be careful with the puzzle ninja one though, it was printed a bit small for me in the copy I had. Not sure if you can get a version that's not printed teeny tiny

If she enjoyed the Ordnance Survey one, she might like the Big British Railway puzzle book. There’s also a new Ordnance Survey book out called Puzzle Tour of Britain, and similar ones by A to Z maps and Transport for London.
Bletchley Park Brainteasers is good, as is the BBC4 Today Programme book.

My lovely old much much missed mum enjoyed this type of logic grid puzzle. She said once you worked out some aspects they became easier but were still challenging at times.
Still have the book she was doing the day she died out of the blue. Perhaps I should finish the one she was doing that morning !? Grin

One of the Only Connect quiz books?

This year I have bought the Imperial war museum code breaking puzzle book, transport for London puzzles and one by the Tower of London.

In previous years I have bought:
Bletchley Park brain teasers
Secret service brain teasers
Scotland Yard puzzle book
The royal geographical society puzzles

Brilliant. This has been so helpful - I've bought the Alex Bellos language puzzle book and the Imperial War Museum one.

She has the Only Connect books. I keep trying to persuade her to apply to go on the show - she has pretty much a 100% score each time. She gets the most obscure clues at the 4 point stage. She's amazing.
