Let's talk horror films...

So I love horror films however I hate paranormal horror and it really gives me the creeps.

I'm not a fan of jumpy horror either.

I'm bored, own my own and locked down.

Please has anyone got any suggestions for a good horror for me?

It Follows
The Witch

SinkGirl · 09/11/2020 23:06

What sort do you like? I can’t handle paranormal stuff or jump scares either but I got convinced to watch Haunting Of Hill House and it’s brilliant and not causing them nightmares I expected (yet!).

Which scary films do you like?

Yazoo88 · 09/11/2020 23:10

I've heard a lot of good things about haunting of hill house so I will definitely give that a go.

I like..
All the saws
Last house on the left
Eden lake
Orphan
Texas chainsaw massacre
Silent hill
The hills have eyes

I'd like to find new horror films that I haven't seen to enjoy whilst locked down.

Thank you for your suggestions so far.

What are some films you like? I generally prefer paranormal type stuff to torture porn type films - I couldn't sit through Wolf Creek for example - but I love things like 30 Days of Night and IT which aren't creepy jump scary. Also love things like Alien/Aliens, Jaws and zombie films like 28 Days Later, World War Z or Dawn of the Dead, although I don't really class those as horror per se.

Cross posted with your list, sorry!

Creep and creep 2 are great, make sure it's the one with the weird guy and the videographer though, not the one set in the underground.

SinkGirl · 10/11/2020 08:30

Have you seen Event Horizon? It’s pretty old now but really got to me!

middleager · 10/11/2020 08:36

I like many horrors, but not the torture Saw style.

Mother, Hereditary, Train to Buscan and Parasite would be my 'newer' recommendations.

middleager · 10/11/2020 08:37

Oh yes Babadook and The Witch too as mentioned by others.

middleager · 10/11/2020 08:39

Have you watched The newish Sky series 'The Third Day'? If you like Midsomer and The Wicker Man then you might like this.
