Thank you for house vendors

We have just moved house: the sellers very kindly left us a very detailed handover note, all their instructions manuals, clearly labelled keys, spare stuff for the garden, specialist cleaning products and a spotlessly clean place. They were also relatively painless to deal with during the purchase process. I say relatively as whilst they provided all of the information we asked for and sorted out some repairs, they did chase a lot for updates and kept wanting to set an exchange date before we had search results back, but enough time has passed that I am no longer wound up by their estate agent ringing me every day!

I have their new address and I'd like to send them a little something to say thank you - is this the done thing, it's not creepy is it? If so what should I send? I met them once at the viewing - a friendly couple in their late fifties moving to be nearer a DC and DGC - but don't know anything about likes or dislikes. A bottle of wine? (I don't drink so don't know anything about wine.) Chocolates? A little tea/coffee/biscuits hamper? I'd look to spend about £15 - £20.

That’s such a nice idea. I’m not much use either as I don’t drink either but I’m sure you will get them something nice

What about flowers? Or a nice box of biscuits.

Celticdawn5 · 09/11/2020 19:43

I would think a thank you card would suffice.

I bought our vendors a nice bottle of gin, as I had seen a stack of tonic in the garage. But yes, I think it is nice to make the gesture if you can.

I think a thoughtful thank you card is appropriate and would be appreciated

Batshittery · 09/11/2020 20:26

That's very thoughtful. If I was receiving the gift, I would be grateful for what ever it was. Smile

newpad2020 · 09/11/2020 22:22

Thanks all! As none of you seem to think that getting in touch is creepy I will do it Smile

Ringtons do a lovely biscuit hamper in a ‘house’ shaped box - that would be a nice gift

BlankTimes · 09/11/2020 22:48

A nice plant for their new garden, a rose or a shrub maybe?

TheTangoTerrorIsTerrifying · 09/11/2020 22:50

It sounds like a lovely idea, I think the little hamper of choccies and biscuits would be a really thoughtful gesture.

BritInAus · 09/11/2020 22:58

That's a really lovely idea. Moving into a spotlessly clean house alone is so wonderful. I think food and drink gifts are usually great but sometimes unwanted, so I'd go for a nice bunch of flowers/a nice indoor plant they can enjoy in their new home with a note.

Just a thank you card would be better IMO, it is a business transaction, I would find a gift a bit over the top, sorry. Same when I move i to a house, I appreciate the manuals etc and maybe a note but a gift would seem a bit OTT.
