Are French video games just the same in different packaging?

I got a French version of a Hotel Transylvania Nintendo switch game (present for ds) by mistake. Will the actual game be the same as the English version or do I have to return it?

You'll be fine OP. I just checked, I changed the language on my Switch to French and it changed all my games to French language. If your Switch language is English it'll play in English

DP who is more clued up on these things tells me that only if you'd bought an American or Asian variation would it be an issue, European games should all be the same. Smile

Exactly the same, except every time you complete a level the characters stop for a glass of wine and pass round a packet of Gitanes Grin.

Yes, the only concern would be the region code as a poster mentioned above. US games would be an issue in that respect. French not a problem other than it might default to French on first play and you'll have to work out how to change it Grin
