I bought a wool duvet after recommendation on here but now duvet cover doesn't fit

So my wool room super king duvet just arrived. Put on super king duvet cover and the sides have huge flappy bits. Checked all the sizing and super king cover size is 220260 and the woolroom duvet 220250.

Everyone was raving about duvets on here but this wasn't mentioned Confused. Where can you buy covers that fit. Is it even worth the hassle? The duvet is very thin in comparison will all standard covers be a bit baggy?

I guess you don’t have a sewing machine, then? That sounds very annoying. We have a few BaaVet duvets and I haven’t noticed that problem, but they do slip about inside the covers more.

Strange theyve made the sizing non standard.

What a strange decision.

Can't help sorry

mosscarpet · 07/11/2020 18:08

the sides shouldnt be flappy. maybe a small gap at the bottom. Are you sure you have put it in the cover the right way (easy to get it wrong with a superking!)

I've been meaning to get to grips with this for years! (I also have a super-king size.) It is rather annoying to have spare fabric flapping about, as you say. But I can't quite persuade myself to go to the trouble and expense of buying smaller covers on the off-chance that they might fit better.

If I were properly organised I'd have had mine altered by now - but I'm too lazy ...

MrsTwitcher · 07/11/2020 18:10

Does it fit if you turn it round

littleducks · 07/11/2020 18:21

It did for much better when I turned it around. But still not great

I have a king size one from soak and sleep and it fits the cover fine. Yes, it’s a bit flatter, but it doesn’t look odd or anything and is still nice and toasty.

I have a baavet wool kingsize duvet. It's standard British king size.
Yes it's slightly slimmer/less bulky but it fits well in the cover (la redoute).

Is your new duvet a European king size? I think sizing can differ between countries (aren't Ikea mattresses/beds slightly different sizes to British ones?) So maybe look for a European size duvet cover - you should be able to check the dimensions before you buy

StanfordPines · 07/11/2020 18:30

Have you measured it or are they the sizes on the website?

I got a Baavet last week and I love it, not that that helps you.

MrsTwitcher · 07/11/2020 20:39

there's not much online but would it squash into a 220 x 240?

their website doesn't mention 250cm

I have a super king wool duvet from Devon duvets and it fits my covers just fine. Have you measured your new duvet?
