Does anyone want to talk about toilet roll but not stockpiling or shops selling out?

I recently bought some bamboo loo roll. Wasn't sure what to expect but it's brilliant. It's not all soft and fluffy but it's thick and luxurious. Definitely recommend.

We get our bamboo toilet roll from who gives a crap - an ace company that give half their profits to build toilets in countries that have little sanitation. Haven’t bought a toilet roll in a physical shop in years!

StealthPolarBear · 07/11/2020 15:12

Interesting. Will look into that. Mine was just on offer in tesco, had a panda on it so I thought I'd try it. I've now moved back to the normal stuff as we already had it and I am disappointed.
Yes I need to get out more.

Is who gives a crap much more expensive from mid-range supermarket stuff? Have heard a bit about them and thinking of trying out

WillowintheUK · 07/11/2020 15:17

Who gives a Crap is great. I get the bamboo stuff too, but you can get recycled (slightly cheaper) as well. The rolls are much longer. Not sure if they save anything - costs me £40 every 4-5 months - but it helps others so for me that’s a plus. If you’re not ready for your next delivery, you can defer if need be.

MinnieMountain · 07/11/2020 15:20

Is it softer than Andrex? I’d like to but DH is a massive Andrex fan.

StealthPolarBear · 07/11/2020 15:28

It's not soft as such. It's sort of thick and luxurious.

If you're anywhere near me I'll share a roll :)

We subscribe to WGAC, I worked out that the price difference was negligible, the rolls have more sheets, the paper is soft and the individual paper wrapping makes a stack look cheerful. And the donation to a practical charity is satisfying.
We get a box every 3 months, along with kitchen paper.

Paranoidmarvin · 07/11/2020 15:39

Ugh. My teenager gets though so much of it. He must eat the bloody stuff. I buy the cheapest I can. I used to buy nice stuff. And the. Realised he was costing me a fortune. I may start buying nice and hiding it .... oh that’s an idea !!!!

MinnieMountain · 07/11/2020 15:40

Right, I’m getting the bamboo stuff. We had the recycled Who Gives a Crap on holiday this year. It was ok.

DH can source his own Andrex.

drspouse · 07/11/2020 15:44

WGAC seems to last forever even though DD has to be sent back to the toilet twice for everyone else's once. We had a full box on lockdown starting and we replaced it in about August but didn't really need to yet - we're probably just running out of the first box now.

dementedpixie · 07/11/2020 15:45

I use the cheeky panda toilet roll too. Got original ones from tesco and then got a Groupon deal so we have plenty to last us now

Hiccupiscal · 07/11/2020 15:48

Another vote for who gives a crap, for all the previous mentioned reasons, plus... delivered, dont have to think about it anymore, we never run out, the wrapped rolls are pretty (and amusing, won't spoil it for any newbies!) All eco and shiz.
Good all round. :)

dementedpixie · 07/11/2020 15:49

Groupon still has Cheeky Panda on offer

GetAMoveOnTroodon · 08/11/2020 15:30

I have Crohn’s disease so we get through a lot of toilet roll and our WGAC boxes last for such a long time - each roll is double the length of a normal supermarket roll.

hollyhope · 08/11/2020 16:34

What is WGAC like for not making everywhere "dusty"?
That's why I usually stick to buying Andrex.
I noticed the WGAC rolls in my yoga studio bathroom ( when it was open), but didn't know anything about them.

Is WGAC thick like supermarket quilted ones? Our plumber warned me about these causing blocked drains so we've always stuck to non-quilted thinnish ones but the dust is bad and I like the eco credentials of WGAC.

I did toy with the idea of switching for environmental reasons as they packaged in paper and cardboard not plastic but then its all made in China isnt it and imported...

Not sure if that negates the whole point really

It comes on a boat and all bamboo toilet paper will be made in China anyway. Plus a lot of the rest.
GetAMoveOnTroodon · 08/11/2020 18:39

It does say what it is on the outside of the box - they’re normally quite entertaining boxes (our latest one said thank you delivery driver for carrying the box on it) but I can’t remember which courier delivered it sorry

I think it's Hermes but it may say on the website.
