Melting chocolate into fondue pot?

Hello,
Of course as per always, I have left everything to last minute.
Tonight my bright idea for a little bonfire night at home is to do melted chocolate in a retro fondue pot.

Except last time I did this (years ago) I burnt the chocolate and it was horrendous... see please, any recommendations for the best chocolate to buy to melt (extra points if can get from standard supermarket), and ideas on yummy things to dip?

I'm furiously googling how to do this, but not coming up with anything useful.

Any tips also happily received!

Thanks!

My pot looks a little like this, except mine is more ornate, have no idea how I'm supposed to use it Grin

Chocolate needs to be melted at a low temperature and ideally not with direct heat (although I have carefully melted it in a saucepan on the hob with no problem)

Googling "chocolate fondue recipes" might help. I daren't 😂

I'm not a very established cook, so im sure its a disaster waiting to happen.Grin

Plastic jug in the microwave. Break the chocolate into small pieces (cooking chocolate is better as Cadbury's etc has other ingredients that make it harder to work with). Microwave in 10-20 sec bursts, stir extremely well in between bursts even when not melted as you don't want a hot spot. Should take about 3-4 mins in total to melt. Pour it into your fondue pot and you should be sorted. Give it a stir every to often once it's in the pot.
I make chocolate for a living and do this several times a day.

Microwave or Bain Marie

Fabulous.
Heading to shops now, any ideas for things to dip in... top of my head marshmallows, strawberries and banana!
