I’m in the mood to replace mine.

Soloman, not the cheapest but I found them to be comfy and fairly light without being too bulky. I've worn mine to trek to base camp, inca trail, tongariro pass, mount cook. They're still going strong and I've never had 1 blister... bot even a tiny one!

Splodgetastic · 07/11/2020 08:12

It depends if you want to go hiking round the local area or actual mountaineering! I have two pairs, Jack Wolfskin for the lighter boot, but still good enough for a proper hike, and Berghaus (was Brasher) for the mountains to save toes.

ChasedByFox · 07/11/2020 08:20

Mine are Salomon too, but they're not in the least bit sexy... technically they're awesome though.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 07/11/2020 08:21

My Meindl Borneo boots have lasted me 15 years and gone all round the Himalayas etc, I still think they look great

For something trendy but still comfortable and waterproof, try Sorel

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 07/11/2020 08:37

I love my Meindl boots.

squashyhat · 07/11/2020 09:00

Why on earth do walking boots need to be sexy?

JoeBidenIsGreat · 07/11/2020 11:15

to wind up people like you, Squashy

Can people post pictures of their specific boots? Every brand has 50 models.

Champagneforeveryone · 07/11/2020 11:53

These are mine. I've been a big fan of Salomon for years as they do 1/2 sizes so are the best fit for me.

Not sure I would describe them a sexy, but that wasn't really the point of them Grin

If they are wonderful to wear while doing activity you love then they are very sexy things (imho).

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 07/11/2020 15:19

I have Vivobarefoot ones and they are great when you get used to them.

Paranoidmarvin · 07/11/2020 15:40

I have tried many. But I cannot find anything that is truly waterproof. They are a myth as far as I’m concerned

PurpleDaisies · 07/11/2020 15:42

These Scarpa boots.

They’re incredible comfortable, totally waterproof and not heavy. Definitely recommended.

PartoftheProbl3m · 07/11/2020 18:41

Lol I’m joking about the sexy thing. Fgs.

Thank you all for these great tips!

Decathlon if you are just rambling rather than up a mountain. Really find the quality good.

HeronLanyon · 07/11/2020 19:00

I love grisport boots. Never let me down. Totally waterproof and comfy from the start. Not sexy at all. Last forever. Currently on a pair of hurricanes.
Second best actually best ever but no longer made LOWA.

My berghaus boots are. Well, I mean they wouldn't be if I went in above their height, but they're fine in over the lacing. I do spray them with the Nikewax waterproofer occasionally.

IME one brand won't suit everyone - I need a roomy toe box because of an enlarged big toe joint but they wouldn't work for someone with narrow feet.

I’ve also got Salomon Quest 4D boots. Been going strong for about 7 years now & very happy with them.

goingtogetthekids · 07/11/2020 19:19

I'm pretty happy with my Lowa Renegade, you can still buy them.
Mine are about 8 years old and the only walking boots i have owned so not much comparison but they are comfortable and pretty waterproof. I've done a few mountain hikes, some snowy and some super boggy and been fine in all conditions.
Like the look of them too

Love my Altbergs. They have a good selection of ready made in a variety of widths and also do an A-form for narrow heels wide toes which is what I wear.
Very waterproof leather boots.

To revive this thread. I have been comparing Sorel boots with Jack Wolfskin. The Sorel boots are great, really light and comfortable but don’t look worth the money . They look cheaply made and the fleece lining is only decorative and doesn’t go inside the boot. Anyone care to comment? They are for walks in cold windy and wet weather and also in the beach.
