DS will be one shortly after the lockdown supposedly will end... (I don’t believe it for a second!) So we have to plan the unplannable. What has been successful among your family or friends, for 1st birthday celebrations in winter?

I’m in exactly the same position! DS birthday is just after lockdown is due to end but I doubt it will be. DP is working away until the middle of December so it will just be me. I’m feeling really sad about it all to be honest. We plan to celebrate when DP is home but would like to do something on the actual day too even if it’s just me and DS.

For a first birthday I’d just do a cake and present and some pictures. It’s all about the parents than the child at that age as they have no clue what day it is,

Was about to say something similar. Do some simple games

Pass the parcel - make sure everyone gets a sweet
Pin the tail on a donkey

Maybe a couple of songs with actions

Well we were going to take DS to the aquarium but we aren't allowed to travel that far now... so it'll be the 3 of us in the house. My mum got us a photo shoot for Christmas last year so all being well we're having that in the local park. Then we're coming home to a have some of his favourite things for lunch and a banana loaf (he's banana obsessed). It's not what we had originally planned and I know DS won't care but we will. DSs birthday is this month and we are in Scotland.

Thanks, some nice ideas. It’s all a shame because for my eldest’s first birthday I was alone in a foreign country (DH working in a third country at the time), so it was just me and a nice friend I’d made recently over there and her little one of around the same age. So I would like to do something a little more special- I know it’s for me and not baby, really!
