I'm off work sick with depression at the moment. I am trying to eat well and go for a daily walk, but that does me in to be honest and I need to lie down under a blanket afterwards. I don't have the energy for TV

I have enjoyed podcasts previously, and was wondering if the good people of MN could recommend some for me. I'm enjoying Mel Giedroyc is quilting at the moment as it is very light and uplifting. Is there anything similar?
Thank you

I am not sure 'uplifting' is the exact word, but 'eventually uplifting' considering your circumstances might be more accurate.....How Did We Get Here? It's Claudia Winkleman and Dr Tanya Byron talking with people about their issues

It's a lovely series. Only on Spotify though.

Thanks will check it out! Uplifting probably not the right word. My usual podcast preferences are Hunting Warhead (fascinating but v.v.dark investigative piece -trigger warning if looking up), and murder mysteries, so I just need stuff lighter than that!

I have Spotify!

How to Fail with Elizabeth Day. People ( well known in their field) chatting about how things the failed at actually turned around. A bit like desert Island discs without the music. Its wonderfully affirming.

I find Adam Buxton affirming as he is so damn nice! Plus he has good chats with interesting people.

Thank you these are great suggestions, I love Adam Buxton

Drunk Women Fighting Crime.

(The one about the body in the suitcase is superb. No need to thank me.)

AmandaHoldensLips · 07/11/2020 08:04

Apologies - it's called Drunk Women Solving Crime.

‘My dad wrote a porno’ is hilarious.

Shamelessly bookmarking. I love a good podcast but haven't yet mined a seam of uplifting ones. It would be good for me to change tack

Shagged married annoyed by Chris and Rosie Ramsey. Filthy and funny.

(Sorry, I am clueless)

Loads of different ways! Spotify is my preference but you have to pay for it. Can stream music there also.

Many are available online, so hopefully rummaging around the internet will find some. Your phone/tablet might also have a podcast app

R4 Friday Night Comedy
Lockdown Parenting Hell

Although I’ve gone off numbers 2&4 recently, just because I’ve listened to them non stop for months.

I secretly recorded my boyfriend. Brilliantly hilarious podcast.
.
Adrift.
.
Secret world of slimming clubs.

SophocIestheFox · 07/11/2020 08:35

My Dad Wrote A Porno- so unexpectedly sweet and funny, given the topic!

Even The Rich - gossipy showbiz deep dives into famous and dysfunctional families. Really charismatic and funny hosts, Brooke and Arisha.

Heavyweight - uplifting stories about resolving small pieces of unfinished business and mysteries from years ago.

The Secret World of Slimming Clubs - particularly funny if you go to a slimming club, but the hosts Katy, Jo and Victoria are just really funny, and it’s very down to earth and relatable.

SophocIestheFox · 07/11/2020 08:37

Cross post, thismeans, I hadn’t seen your rec for Secret World of Slimming clubs when I wrote mine Grin it’s fab isn’t it?

Thanks for these, I've found them useful if I can't sleep in the night or whilst crocheting.
I have Spotify and didn't realise they were on there!
Does anyone know how I access Podcasts quickly on my iPhone via Spotify? Doesn't seem to be a way to go straight to them.
