Ok, we're looking at me and DH alone for the day. It's looking unlikely family will be allowed or able to join us (fake sad face).

I'm thinking

Champagne
Smoked salmon
Sourdough
Poached eggs
Chocolate Brazil nuts
Big Thornton's boxes
Crisps and dips
More champagne or maybe cocktails if we need a pick me up, espresso martinis?

Snoozes throughout the day. Then curry when the Indian opens at 5.30. Done. Fuck all effort and washing up. What else do we need for the day time?

Oh, maybe cheeseboard stuff?

You appear to have forgotten a baked Camembert topped with whisky and pecans served with some M&S cranberry and walnut loaf

lemmywinks84 · 06/11/2020 20:54

Thank you. DH would never forgive me if there was no Camembert and crusty dipping bread! That's bang on, I'll add it.

There's no pastry on that list! You need some tartlets/vol-au-vents/filo parcels, or is it even really Christmas?? Xmas Wink

ScrapThatThen · 06/11/2020 21:48

Really nice coffee and toblerone for breakfast.

FlibbertyGiblets · 06/11/2020 21:50

Ready to cook pigs in blankets "just in case".

That sonds a bit lite for Christmas! Are you sure you won't starve before the curry???!!

What about some creamy dessert? Spray cream sprayed into brandy snaps if one of you has any oomph? Something else really decadent.

I was going to ask where the roasties were but guess it will be a no effort occasion - just opening up pakets of food!

DaisyDreaming · 08/11/2020 11:58

Cheese and also honey roasted nuts (the more sugar and salt on them the better!)

Plussizejumpsuit · 08/11/2020 12:12

Get nicer chocolate than Thorntons.
I'd want olives and veg antipasti like artichokes.

HugeAckmansWife · 08/11/2020 12:19

I'd have olive ciabatta, sabra homous, lots of cheeses, pate and charcuterie and just pick through the day. Plus chocolate in all its forms.

samlovesdilys · 08/11/2020 13:07

Really lovely sausage rolls?? An M&S seafood platter??!!

sueelleker · 08/11/2020 16:33

Get nicer chocolate than Thorntons. Hotel Chocolat do some lovely Christmas collections.

tootyfruitypickle · 08/11/2020 17:00

Me and DD have Christmas alone every year. We do party food all day. Sausage rolls, Pringles, cheeses, mini pizzas, grapes, she likes pork pies, salmon, I have prosecco, mini part baked baguettes, pâté, whatever dessert we fancy, chocolate , she orders a smoothie , endless crisps.

It’s fab .

GlamourSpider · 08/11/2020 17:14

Your list (with the addition of Camembert) sounds bang on :-)

RockStarMartini · 08/11/2020 17:38

God that all sounds good, chances are it’ll just be me and DD this year in which case I’m having all of that and more 😋

tootyfruitypickle · 08/11/2020 17:46

Croissants for breakfast !
