Steam generator irons in hard water areas?

Any success with steam generator irons that last in hard water area? I use the top of the range Tefal with 50% tap water and 50% distilled water as advised by Tefal but they last such a short time. Are other brands better or is there a better mix of water or easier way to clean the iron out? I need large capacity and high power. Thank you

Phillips that has the descale facility, plus use distilled water sieved from the tumble dryer or purchased which they advised me to do.

I have had a Tefal for about 3 years and live in a very hard water area. I buy distilled water for it or use water from my air conditioning unit. I've never had to de scale it.

MrsT do you use 100% distilled water? Tefal told me to use 50% tap water and 50% distilled but my irons last such a short time and I always buy the most expensive Tefal. Thankyou

I bought a Tefal that was specifically for hard water areas after my Morphy Richards one died horribly. Which magazine approved it too. So far it's great but I only have it since March....

Second the Phillips iron. I also live in a very hard water area and went through a standard steam iron every 12-18 months. Current steam generator is 3 years old. Descale function was part of my purchase decision. I also use sieved/filtered tumble dryer condenser water or bought distilled - car section is cheaper than laundry section.

Those who have Phillips - what model as some are over £500. I normally pay about £200 for Tefal one with rrp of £300 I think. Also do you use 100% distilled or 50%. I buy it in huge volume £20 per 25 litres including delivery - is that about right? Thank you

I have the PerfectCare Elite Silence
www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.philips.co.uk/c-p/GC9642_60.amp/perfectcare-elite-steam-generator-iron

Hope the link works. Bought off an Ebay outlet 2 years ago via TopCashback for £90.

Phillips Perfect care elite GC9600 and, having checked the manual, found the guarantee and it is now 5 years old.
I use it two to three times a week. It has at least halved the time I used to take ironing.
