After one while year of promises (I was on ML but was promised to come back to said role). I finally have a date when I'll finally move to my promoted role. I'm not getting a new contract but I'm getting a payrise is that normal? It's definitely a different type of role. (I went from entry level to accounts manager) with other bits thrown in. I'll also be using my very own skillset (languages) which my colleague who will get promoted at the same time won't. Are we supposed to get the same salary? I have no clue but I welcome the change :)

Congrats! I've always had to interview for promotions to a new role, even thought they have only advertised internally with a view to giving it to me. I did get a new contract, the main change being the notice period. Is it still the same notice period? Mine went from 4 to 8 weeks. Is there a job description for the role or is it a new role? I wouldn't worry/concern myself with what a colleague gets but you should know the going rate for the type of job in the industry and if its not at the right level negotiate.

^don't feel shy of negotiating.

HR lady said I wouldn't get a new contract as terms were the same. Completely new job description though.

Unfortunately being in the SW salaries aren't that competitive but I know that the ongoing salary for people with "skills" at my company is around £25k . I'm on £19.5k I expect to go to around £23k.
