16 month old doesn't talk

Hello, I'm hoping for some advice please.

My son is 16 months and still doesn't say any words. He is vocal, and responds to me.
For example, if I tell him to put something in the bin he will walk it over and put it in. Or if I ask him if he wants to go upstairs he will run to the bottom of the stairs. This makes me sure his hearing is ok.

Is it normal to be this age and not talking yet?

Hopeful bump

He's still very young. Does he babble? Will he hold a "conversation" with you where he vocalises in response to your questions? Eye contact? 16 months is still very little and certainly within normal.

Yes he babbles away! And does hold a no worded conversation!

You have reassured me. Thank you so much

Hi someone who has much more knowledge will be along but just wanted to say I think at 16 months all my DS did was babble, he maybe attempted dada and doggie also. But all of a sudden words, animal noises(which count as early words), songs (well an approximation of the tune with syllable sounds) started falling out of him around 20 months. I think there is a wide spectrum of normal. I was worried because the girls in our ante natal group were naming teletubbies and correctly identifying vegetable

My DS2 still wasn't saying much at two years (just some animal noises etc). He's now 11yo and is doing really well at school.

Thanks everyone. My DD was talking quite a bit at this age so I was concerned. And I don't know many people with kids who I could ask.
