Adult autism diagnosis

Yazoo88 · 06/11/2020 07:30

I was referred by my GP to undergo a diagnosis of autism, I've been through triage and they said that I have been forwarded to the next stage which is a video call with a DR and psychologist.

It's not the diagnosis that I'm finding overwhelming as it would explain a lot of things about my personality it's the video call that I am dreading.

Has anyone got any information that would help me calm my nerves?

I've done it recently. We went through the reasons why I thought I have autism and it was actually a really nice chat. I was referred on to an occupational therapist for my sensory issues and I've my full assessment this Monday coming. It's fine, honestly. They're on your side.

I got my diagnosis over 10 years ago, but I always found that writing down bullet points of anything you wish to discuss or how you think your autism affects you can really help. I found it handy to have already thought about how best to describe things, and it was reassuring to have something to refer to. Good luck.
