Anyone with kids NOT do fireworks tonight?

I also don't think they should be sold to the general public - it's dangerous and irresponsible. Every year we hear tales of some poor bugger getting seriously burned or losing an eye because fireworks have gone wrong.
The world won't end of kids miss a year or two of organised displays.

indemMUND · 05/11/2020 23:16

I didn't. We watched some from the window and spent most of the time checking on and reassuring our various pets (small bloody zoo here). Would've liked to do sparklers together but couldn't get any.

Littlepond · 05/11/2020 23:17

We have four cats and no money. Definitely no fireworks here!!

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 05/11/2020 23:22

We didn't. We did however make a mini guy and burn him in the garden. Various neighbours had fireworks so we got a free show. Then we watched the Lancashire fire brigade's Facebook thing where they covered the various stuff they do and then had a bonfire/fireworks. Kids went to bed pretending to put out fires quite happily.

FatGirlShrinking · 05/11/2020 23:33

No but only because I'm convinced I'd burn the garden down.

We enjoyed watching other people's and we have a secret plan for DD (6yo) because she's sad we couldn't go to the big display this year.

On Saturday we're getting 5 guys burgers delivered, we have disco lights, streamers, poppers, cake sparklers, those cake fountains and some funfair style games and we're doing an indoor fireworks night for her.

ShutUpaYourFace · 05/11/2020 23:55

We didn't. Oddly enough I haven't even heard any here at all. Let's wait till the weekend!

caveofwonder · 05/11/2020 23:58

No, I've never done our own fireworks and it never occurred to me to get any. We only ever go to organised displays, although DD has never been to one because they're past her bedtime.

MedusasBadHairDay · 06/11/2020 00:00

No, wanted to at least get sparklers but wasn't that organised

LostAcre · 06/11/2020 00:01

No, we just watched other people’s fireworks from the windows.

There were plenty of them being set off in our area

winetime89 · 06/11/2020 00:03

We didn't. explained to the kids why, they were not bothered, plenty to see anyway without adding more.

TheFormidableMrsC · 06/11/2020 00:05

We didn't. I don't have a big enough garden. We did enjoy seeing other people's though when we went out for a post dinner stroll

Sceptre86 · 06/11/2020 00:05

We didn't, we live on a new build estate and our garden overlooks a lot of other people's. Some other people on the estate did and my kids enjoyed watching theirs from the living room window. Around our way they started at 6pm and were over by 8pm.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 06/11/2020 00:08

We didn't. We normally do some at home as one of the dc is autistic and can't cope with crowds but can cope with ear defenders and a commentary from DH about what's happening.
I'm on the shielding list so DH didn't want to go to a shop to get any.

MarjorytheTrashHeap · 06/11/2020 00:14

Me. I have never done fireworks at home, we only go to organised displays. The fireworks at home are usually pretty unimpressive and more bang than anything else.

Dontlickthetrolley · 06/11/2020 00:23

Our garden is too small but I did ensure our daily exercise happened at the time I assumed most people locally would be setting theirs off so we watched from across a big field. Saw 3 other families doing similar. We did have sparklers at home.

Sounds lovely, can I come lol Although what's indoor fireworks?
badlydrawnbear · 06/11/2020 07:30

We didn't last night, not even sparklers. I was at work and didn't get home until nearly 10pm. Our garden is too small for fireworks, and DH didn't go and buy any sparklers.
