Forgot to take my propranolol - I think?

I’m usually due a dose of propranolol three times a day for anxiety . 10mg three times . Label says I mustn’t suddenly stop it, as it could cause serious problems . I’ve been taking it for several weeks .

I’ve already spoken to surgery today as I’ve got viral labyrinthitis, GI symptoms, an abscess, severe menstrual pain and shattered . GP says I’m very run down due to stress and some sort of nasty virus . Not Covid .

Realised tonight I have no idea if I’ve taken my evening propranolol .

I’m staying at someone else’s house so I can’t check to be sure .

If I miss one dose, what happens? I wouldn’t be due another until 7am or so ... ? I suppose I could take another but I’m not sure .

I take this as and when I need it. I am allowed to take up to 3 at a time and I am on 10mg.

If you are worried call a late night pharmacy. They should be able to help you :)

havingawibble · 05/11/2020 20:33

Oh so you don’t have to take the 3 every day? I thought you did for some reason - I think I maybe have understood it all wrong !

Just take your next dose when it’s due. Suddenly stopping means surly stop taking it altogether.

You’ll be fine if you’ve missed one dose. You may feel a little odd but that’s it.
Perhaps come up with a system so you don’t forget. Make a note of it or count tablets out into a pill pot every day.

Also yes agree with pp that when I was prescribed it was only as and when too. Check the label on the packet.

I usually do, just with not being at home I’m sure I’ve forgotten .

I have this too and it will be absolutely fine. I was told to take them when needed, up to 3 a day. I asked if I could take 3 some days and none other days and was told it was fine to do this.
30mg is a very tiny dose anyway and doesnt really have a big impact on your body so it wont hurt you in any way to miss a dose.

havingawibble · 05/11/2020 20:42

I had forgotten it Blush. Have just taken it now . Got 28 on Friday aft - 1 taken then, plus three each day since would mean 9 left so all good ... somehow had the whole pack with me and not just one strip of them . All sorted phew .

I know this isn't what the thread is for, but do you find they help?
I'm fed up of living like this, but I'm even more scared of getting something that doesn't work :(.

LindaEllen ** I started taking them, 40mg twice a day, about a year ago to deal with the physical symptoms of anxiety. Really helped. I took them regularly for 6 months and now just take one if feeling particularly anxious.
OP - I think if they're prescribed for anxiety, missing a dose doesn't matter at all.
