So, the Furlough scheme has today been extended until March 2021. I'm very confused, and wonder if this might mean lockdown until then?

Please say it isn't so 🙏

Its to cover the incomes of people who won't be able to return to work until more/all restrictions are lifted either because its not possible to do their job or because their industry only need a skeleton staff for the time being. For example, the travel and tourism industry.

Live events, theatre, hospitality.

I think it's to help all the people who won't be working - Christmas temps, events staff, holiday and airline staff, etc. Their year is basically over

I’d just like a money tree like Rishi’s 🙄

Thanks all, for explaining.

And yes, I'd love Rishi's magic money tree 🌳

We are going to have to pay this back at some point, aren't we?!

Oh absolutely!

Well not everyone is going to pay it back - just the poor are going to suffer. Others with a bit of leeway in their monthly wages will be able to absorb the cost of this.

Don’t forget Brexit in less than 2 months! We as a country are fucked.
