Has anyone had tapeworm? If so what were your symptoms and where do you think you might have got it from?

It’s symptoms seem common to other illnesses too and says it can be caught from contaminated water etc but how common is that in the UK?
I feel like I have symptoms matching it (high appetite, continual unexplained weight loss, all blood tests for hormone imbalance etc comes back normal, bouts of nausea etc.

& If so, how did you treat it and will it come back?

The main tell tale sign would be passing segments in your stool. It's very uncommon in the UK. Essentially you'd need to have eaten or drunk something contaminated with the faeces of someone with a tapeworm... or come into contact another way, I.e. it contaminatedyour hands then got into your mouth from there. If you think there is a chance you could request a test. I think they'd need a stool sample and would check it for eggs under the microscope.

Oh and treatment it's straightforward but you'll expel what could be a large worm. It wouldn't come back unless you catch another one.

I've never had one, but one of my cats passed a whole tapeworm once.

I couldn't work out why there appeared to be a length of cooked linguine on the kitchen floor when when we hadn't had it recently.

And then it started moving Envy

Does it always appear in an obvious way in stools? I haven’t had that symptom but had all the others
