DS (5) has just dug this little critter out of a excavating toy and is desperate to know what it is?

Even DS huge knowledge if dinosaurs has not come up with anything and to me it looks a bit like a rat?

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Lizard

ShadyBansheeThing · 05/11/2020 17:08

Looks very like a lizard - maybe a gecko?

FadedRed · 05/11/2020 17:11

Plesiosaur?

Or maybe not Plesiosaur- the feet don’t look the same, do they?

ShadyBansheeThing · 05/11/2020 17:13

I think it's not a dinosaur as its legs stick out sideways, whereas dinosaurs had upright legs. Rat would have a much longer tail and smaller feet. Prob not a plesiosaur as its neck isn't long enough.

Alligator / crocodile?

Residentdove2020 · 05/11/2020 17:22

Not much of a clue myself, but maybe you were right. Google lens on your photo brings up this eBay skeleton of a rat. Link doesn't go anywhere though, so no more angles.

Here's a bearded dragon lizard, it's quite similar

Hmmm I don't think it's a rat - they have a ribcage only at the top of the spine, and very different teeth
rat

I've had a look and I don't think it's me.

ComeOnBabyHauntMyBubble · 05/11/2020 18:36

Some lizard type. Depends if you need to know exactly which one,or if just lizard is enough.

ComeOnBabyHauntMyBubble · 05/11/2020 18:39

Looks similar to me but I'm no Mary Anning.
