Relocating to Exeter

hi there! I am probably in the wrong place all together. My poor stressed and hormonal brain can't workout where to post on here! Grrr! Anyway, we are relocating to Exeter from Surrey with 2 boys aged 12 & 15 and I just want to hear from anyone who has done similar, or is currently living there, what do kids that age do there? What are the pluses? What are the pitfalls? What schools to avoid? And anything else I need to know that I have not yet considered. We are moving early December! Yikes!!!

Great place! Short drive to various beach and the moors etc. Good transport links, also much easier to get to Cornwall!
We moved here around ten years ago and have three DS all at primary school. You will hear nonsense about which side of the river to live is better, both have their plusses and minuses.

I lived there (and loved it). Lots to do, beautiful walks by the river, nice chilled out SE atmosphere. Enough shops and bars but most things are walkable. Very kid friendly - they'll love things like the underground tunnels.

We moved here 10 years ago. Kids aged 7 and 5 now. Most of the schools are pretty good I think and will depend on where you live, I don't know much about high schools here. We do lots of beach and Dartmoor days out as well as national trust. Good buses etc it you're living within the city and area. Cornwall is much more accessible if you live in Devon as well.
Have you already got jobs to start and an area to live in?

I see you've found our local facebook page. Lots of helpful people on there.
