Interested to hear from any other parents of children who are on Propranolol for neonatal supraventricular tachycardia - what side affects have you seen? Very sleepy after dose etc?

My DS had propranolol for a tachycardia. The obvious ses were that he was more irritable when taking it and that his hands and feet got cold more easily. It is a very safe drug with lots known about it which is why it is widely used for this and other problems

Was the irritability due to drowsiness after each dose?

No drowsiness that I noticed. He was just more cranky. He had spells on digoxin and flecainide as well and lots of changes of dose and drug combinations so I noticed the difference in him between the different meds.He ended up on propranolol ( combined with flecainide for most of the time ) until he was 5 but has taken it again as migraine prophylaxis since his early teens. As I said above he had minor side effects but there isn't really an option to treatment so we got on with it . It is a very well known drug which is reassuring.
