Any recommendations for mats that will keep wooden floors as clean as possible from muddy footprints and paw prints?! Have heard Turtle mats are means to be good but any others?

I have hug rugs and they are fantastic, I've had mine for about 4 years and they get washed weekly. Dunelm also do some that are cheaper I bought my daughter some and they look Very similar.

If you can afford it, Turtle.
Our dear departed poodle did little wees on mats so I've spent £££ and nothing comes close.
Amazon often have certain patterns cheaper.

These

magic mats are fab!
Very budget of course but I loved them!
I had two large versions of them. They come clean really well with a quick hoover and wash brilliantly in the machine. I'd still have both except the bloke who fit our flooring decided to slice through them and fling them outside, absolutely no idea why he did that 😡

I was told Turtle mats were the best and bought one. Still got it 5 years and a few washes on. Not sure how it compares to a cheaper one. Tempted to just get a second as I suppose the price is good over time.
